I have a toshiba TP61H60 it turns on and then turns off

On this model TV it is more than likely the Connvergence IC's, (2) STK392-110. Also, check all the little green pico fuses, replace as needed. When replacing the IC's resolder all 'jumper' connections in the connvergence area.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Change comming in february??

This really depends on your cable provider. Some like the one in my hometown of Abilene, Texas SuddenLink will take care of the transition for all its customers. Of course we are talking about every tv except the old fashion rotary knob ones. Call you cable provider. I know that yours is ready through cable connections. Over the air is questionable.

Plug it in and it sounds like it turns on but thr power light just blinks

Chances are that you have a power supply issue. I have found everything from bad solder connections to bad regulators cause it. I have even had a problem with the convergence amplifiers cause the power supply to shut down. If a simple reset (unplugged for fifteen minutes or so) does not fix the problem, I regret to tell you that it will probably require a service technicians help. But as long as he or she is fair with their pricing it will be worth the investment on this set.

Good Luck!

Need screen for 61" toshiba

The part numbers for the screens for the TP61H60 are:

Fresnel (interior screen) 23837528
Lenticular (exterior ribbed screen) 23837528

They used to run about $170 for each plus shipping which was expensive due to their size. The problem is that they are discontinued. I have had success using screen from other manufacturers in different sets, i.e. a Hitachi screen in a Sony TV. Even if you can find a larger size screen you can cut it down using a utility knife and a straight edge. I have done that as well.

Good Luck!

In the late 70's I was OJT for America West TV, the ink still wet on my CET diploma. I can remember my instructor Bod Fagren saying, "if you're not certain you can do it don't attempt to guess, ask questions..." It sound like what youre describing is a loss of vertical deflection. This is usually caused by the vertical IC having shorted out. In the 61H60 that IC is Q301 an LA7833s Toshiba p/n#23319787 and costs about $20 bucks. But other components feeding that IC, resistors and caps should be tested to determine if the IC failed due to heat or was stressed because of higher than normal voltages. In all a shop usually carries that part on-hand or has access to it. And the repair can usually be completed in a couple of hours. In short, I'd have it done by a reputable shop. Taking the TV to them will help keep the costs down too. If you're not too sure where to find a good repair shop try calling NESDA (National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn.) and they can usually give you a couple of referrals to one of their member's shops in your area. Good Luck Bill

Toshiba 42RV500E sound issue

This is a known issue with this TV. The following might resolve it: Check Mute and Volume: Ensure that the TV is not muted and that the volume is set appropriately. Sometimes accidental button presses can lead to muted sound or low volume. Inspect External Speakers: If you're using external speakers, verify their connections. Loose cables or faulty speakers can cause sound issues. Test Different Inputs: Connect a non-HDMI device (such as a DVD player) to the TV. Observe if the sound distortion occurs. If it doesn't, the problem might be related to the HDMI signal from your Virgin box. HDMI Troubleshooting: If the issue persists with the DVD player over HDMI, consider the following: HDMI Cable: Check the HDMI cable for damage or loose connections. Virgin Signal: Contact Virgin to inspect the signal/lines and replace the box if necessary. Mainboard Replacement (if needed): If the sound distortion persists, it could be due to a faulty sound processor chip on the TV's mainboard. In this case, consider replacing the mainboard.
