How lonng since you have brightened up your tubes? They are probably just week from age. Slowly bring up the screen knob on the focus block and you should be ok.

I have access to a few screens 50 inch. However you will need to measure your screen top to bottom and side to side. Let me know those dimensions and maybe I can help you.

well I am not tom but your tv is having a convergence problem only a technician may be able to replace the bad ic inside the set

The cable connector is no doubt causing the set to lose the signal which will cause loss of video and sound. You may be able to resolder the Cable input. If that doesnt help you may need to replace the circuit board. www.tvcircuitboards.com should have boards available if you need one.

That component has been discontinued. You may be better off trying to replace the power board with a used on you need the PB8760B2 power board or part number 23783257

The TV has a convergence problem; the IC’s for that circuit will need to be replaced. The cost for this repair runs around $450.00 or more.

Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number
23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number
23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is
detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC
version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version as
shown in Figure 2. Replace the Convergence Output IC’s using the “T”
type version Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T).

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

This is typical with many sets when it goes old as there is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling , tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs.

Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points. Please find below a tip on SMPS
