Juki DDL-5550 Industrial Straight Stitch Sewing Machine, Servo Motor - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
As soon as I put on a zipper foot the tension on my ddl 5550 loosens. when I put on the regularfoot its fine. anyone else having this issue?
The 'shank' on your zipper foot is too long and is holding your upper tension open. When I get a rogue foot like this, I set my old foot and my new foot, side by side on a flat surface and measure the height from the surface to the bottom of the hole where the foot is screwed onto the presser bar. When I see how much difference there is, I mark it and take my Dremel and cut the hole lower on the new foot. This will usually fix the problem. The only other thing you can do is to adjust the height of your presser bar to accommodate the zipper foot but now it won't fit your regular foot so you have a new problem. :)
My Juki keeps shutting off.
sounds like a overheating issue related to motor and power transformer. Have that looked at by a trained repair technician, the motor is overheating when used, this may be why it shuts down after a bit of sewing. But runs a bit more after it cools down.

When i release the leg lever to let down the presser foot ,the foot wont release all the way and now it wont stitch
Mine does this too sometimes. Lift up the head and look in the middle of the oil pan. The knee controller runs through there. Make sure the black knob is not stuck. Hit the knee thing a couple of times to make sure it is not stuck. It should move freely up and down. That may fix the problem. If not, look st the small post to the left and behind the oil intake. Move the manual presserfoot lever on the machine to see it move. It will be stiff, but it should still lift a little. Usually jigging these two parts will fix the problem. Good luck..
How do i lower the feed dog for free motion sewing??
Oooh, consult your owner's manual. Frequently, industrial machines are limited in their capabilities so your machine may not have the feed dog lowering ability. Some other domestic machines without the capability can use a plate to cover the feed dogs while free motion quilting, but that probably wouldn't be a good thing to try if your machine is not made for sewing without the feed dogs in use.

Why will the tension unit will not stay in
loosen the screw that holds the tension device in place and remove the whole thing. if it won't pull right out use a small screrw driver in the take up spring slot to help it out. probably whats wrong is the small screw at the rear of the tension device is loose. u need a very small screwdrive to tighten this and don't put tons of pressure on the screw only to have to drive slip off and slice your finger. don't misplace the pin that opens the thread tension disksn when presser foot is up position.
Black oil marks on fabric when sewing
theres a screw that controls the amount of oil that reaches the upper head. tilt machine back and look for screw with head that has an arrow indicating + or - tighten in minus direction. maybe u need a new needle bar guide too.
