Hello
The infrared sensor of your Toshiba Tv seems to be of normal type to which most of the colur tVs uses. You can check it with fitting an other number instead of the present one, and will work I thinks. It is a three terminal sensor, a standard remote sensor is used. Toshiba may printed some code of their own to it, that is all. OK.

It is quite difficult to find the original part inmany stores but if you are able take along the LOT and show it to the shop dealer, they would be able to help with the similar types available and which you can run a continuity test to match the type you are having in case there is no interwinding shorting. Also check for damaged boards from which it can be swapped , there are many now available in scrap yards and service centers. If not the best option is to change the entire kit with a new type that matches the CRT.

Two options...
1. Connect the Cable Box via RCA cables (Yellow/Red/White) or Component cable if you have a HD cable box and select the appropriate input on the TV to view your programs. This will provide the best picture quality as well.
2. Make sure the cable box is on. Using the original TV remote type in the channel 03 and if this tunes to the channel then go to the TV menu and then go to Set up and then select add/erase and select add.

My Toshiba 27af44 wont turn on
There are several, not very expensive, parts in the power supply that may have failed; some of them worth under a dollar.
One does need some technical knowledge and two basic instruments to locate the failed part(s) however so the labor charge will be many times the parts cost.
I do recommend you have it repaired because when you decide to buy a flat-panel (LCD, plasma) type set, it will not likely last as long as your Toshiba has. The newer sets are being slapped together in China.
I hope you have a surviving independent TV service shop in your area.
Change batteries on my toshiba se-r0001 remote
- Locate the Battery Cover: Look for the battery cover on the back of the remote control. It is usually a small compartment that can be easily opened.
- Remove the Battery Cover: Depending on the design, there may be a latch, screw, or sliding mechanism to secure the battery cover. Use your fingers or a small screwdriver to open the compartment.
- Remove Old Batteries: Take out the old batteries from the battery compartment. Pay attention to the orientation of the batteries, so you know how to insert the new ones correctly.
- Check Battery Polarity: Take note of the positive (+) and negative (-) signs inside the battery compartment. Make sure to insert the new batteries with the correct polarity to match these markings.
- Insert New Batteries: Place the new batteries into the battery compartment, ensuring they are properly aligned with the correct polarity. Press them down gently to make sure they are secure.
- Replace Battery Cover: After inserting the new batteries, close the battery compartment cover securely. If it has a latch or screw, make sure it is fastened properly.
- Test the Remote: Point the remote at the device it controls (such as a Toshiba TV) and test whether it responds to your commands. If the remote is working correctly, you have successfully replaced the batteries.
- Dispose of Old Batteries: If the old batteries are no longer usable, make sure to dispose of them properly. Many communities have designated recycling locations for batteries.
