How do I replace the lamp? Do I need just the
just the bulb.. write down the model number of the unit and they will give you the same bulb that you need, just give them the model number.
If you are going to install the bulb just remember DO NOT HOLD directly the bulb, use any clothe or gloves, because even a fingerprint can busted the bulb even thou it's not yet use

The lcd panel may be faulty or one of the polarisers may have gone. May cost £300 to fix. May need to look at a new projector.

The XL2100 Lamp assembly is located behind the grill, under the front screen. Thumbscrews on left and right loosen and the panel pulls off.
Open Lamp access door by loosening the thumbscrew on the front. The lamp is behind the door and attached by two mounting screws. The mounting screws require an "Allen" or Hex key.
Never attempt to access the bulb or open the door when the bulb is hot. Allow 30 minutes to cool.
Look for
specific LED indicator codes on the front of the TV. An explanation of the most likely fault is in your Sony user's manual. Links to free Sony user manuals are also on the link above. Lots of instructions regarding safety, mercury disposal, removing the lamp.
Do not buy a bulb and waste your money if any
Sony TV Optical Block or Optical Engine Faults are or were visible before bulb failure.

I have a Sony KF-60WE610.
yes you are correct.As per the led light blinks.Five blink is for lamp replacement.And seven blink is for audio problem.
Lamp replacement is just removing the old lamp and fitting new lamp and resetting the lamp timer.But audio problem is replacing the internal electrical components.In this you have to do bit of troubleshooting.You have to check few parts with meter to confirm the fault.

There are few circuit boards in the sony kf-60we610 unit.In that you have to check IC8504(A board), IC4704(AU board), PS1601 or 1602 (G1 board).If this Ic checked out faulty then it has to be replaced.You can get replacement Ic from online www.radioshack.com site.
---------- If you are not familiar with testing this parts,then it has to be done by local tv repair tech.First the ic parts are to be checked,then faulty one has to be Replaced.in some cases the D_board itself has to be replaced.But in most of the cases replacing the 2 ic helps to solve the problem.

Jeff, did you look at the Sony web site? They had a problem with 9 different TV models that were from 2003 and 2004, KF-42WE610, KF-50WE610, KF-60WE610 and 6 other models.
This is what it states: It haas come to our attention that a limited number of Grand WEGA rear projection TV's may exhibit warping to the lamp access door. In rare cases, some additional components may also become damaged as a result. and so on........
You probably have some components melted on the inside around the lamp. I have a 42 inch and I just replaced the lamp at Christmas and the door was melted shut. This is the second lamp that I have replaced, the door was starting to melt the first time. They never sent me anything about this problem, and as of today I am still trying to work something out with them. The repair shop who has it told me that it can't be repaired. The parts that are melted are not in stock and they don't make them anymore. They are supposed to get back with me and make me some kind of offer.
They will only fix this problem through March 31, 2009.

You have something on the lens. If the lens was producing excessive heat it could be the melting around the lens itself, or it could be grease from your finger that was clear until it got hot enough to cook onto the glass. Either way, remove and clean the bulb lens (the one on the bulb you change out when the bulb blows) and then re-clean the focus lens on the front of the projector (the one you turn to focus).
If this doesn't clear it up, look for damage on the focus lens or the bulb lens.

Take the front cover off of the tv. There are 2 knobs on the back of the tv (one on each side) that you have to unscrew and then you can pop the front panel off. Now you can take the lamp out using a metric allen wrench on 2 bolts. When the lamp is broken it's generally shattered or atleast the long middle section is detached from the lamp. Hope this helps
