Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I just got a ps2 slim from a friend and it makes a whirring noise constantly, even with no disc in, what could be causing this/what do I do?
Dose it play games and dvds?
Is it full functional?
Dose it seem to get louder after playing a disc or is it constant?
If it works and nothing else i wrong with it i am guessing its the fan.
There are some mods you can do but its more for heat not really noise. There are whisper fans with LEDs and there slightly bigger for better heat removal. If your not that good at taking electronics with small parts apart then i would ask around to see if some one would do the mod for you. You could try and vacuum out the fan and see if that works or tear in to it and clean it out with a dry Q-tip and small brush like a stiff paint artist brush. It could also be some electronics in the power circuit is going bad but i am leaning more it being the fan.
Game runs but the game wont come n the tv
Have you tried a different cable. If a new cable did not work then its more likely the connector its self and would have to be re-solderer to be fixed. I would add some hot glue around the connector for more support but make sure it still has clearance in the case for proper fit. You could also try to clean the connector and cable with some rubbing alcohol. do not soak them. Use something damp. If nether of them work then the mother board is fried.
EA Sports Server Troubleshooting, Problems & Support
I had the same problem where I'm logged into XBox Live and I couldn't get into the EA servers to play any EA games. This is what worked for me:
1. Hit the XBox button and Log out of XBox live.
2. Go to the Settings tab and select System Settings.
3. Choose Console Settings then Clock.
4. Choose Daylight Savings and set this to OFF and back out.
5. Log back into XBox Live and the time will be set automatically.
6. Start you EA Game and Have Fun!!!
Format ps2 memory card
It's automatic. Remember, that you can't use a PS1 memory card to save PS2 games. A lot of people sell PS1 cards trying to pass them off as PS2. Watch out for them. They will say on the back for what system. When you play a game, it will tell you that there is no saved game on the card, and ask you if you want to make one.
Error reading disc
It's possable, because it is an older system, the CD laser is starting to go out. You can buy repair kits from Ebay.
PS2 seems to be destroying individual games?
Do the games appear to have any physical damage on them such as scratches or smears? If not, it could be the laser going on the PS2. If the games are in good condition prior to entering the console and come out scratched afterwards this could be a sign of a bent disc tray or a foreign object stuck in the system.
