20 Most Recent Sony BM-147 Desktop Cassette Transcriber / Recorder Questions & Answers

1. Try to change the tape speed on your machine. Sometimes that will fix it.

2. Maybe the tape is just old (has been dictated on too many times) and in that case, have the person dictate on new tapes and discard the old ones. They dont last forever.

Hope I could help!

Hello on a BM-147 there is only one adjustment responsible for auto back space when you used foot pedal and that adjustment is next to the Display is call Reverse Time that controls the reverse function when you take foot control off from play but if the problem is when you take the foot off on REW and unit keeps going you have a bad foot pedal you can get a replacement at http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-Sony-IN-75-Heavy-Duty-Foot-Pedal---Pre-Owned__ECS-PIN-75.aspx

Hello,

No, this unit does not have an erase feature. You would need a magnetict tape eraser such as a BE10.

If there is no sound on a channel, and you know the recording is there, then you either have a bad head or a broken wire at the tape head.

It's time to take it to an electronics tech. Something inside it has died, blowing the fuse. This isn't a do-it-yourself project.

Not too difficult. On the back on the far left are two phono sockets marked CD, you can simply get some decent RCA to RCA leads and connect them via that.
Some CD players have either an RF lead or digital output socket. Suitable leads can be connected to the digital in sockets on the Marantz.
