Article ID: 42707 ' Last Updated: 03/11/2014 Sony® stereo systems will enter the DEMO mode the first time you power on the system or if you do not operate the unit shortly after turning on the power to the system. To disable the DEMO mode, while the stereo system is powered off, press the DISPLAY button repeatedly until the demonstration display disappears. NOTES:

• Depending on your model, some units have a DEMO button that is used to disable the demonstration mode. If your unit has this button, with the power to the system off, press the DEMO button until the display disappears.
• If applicable to your unit, setting the clock on your stereo system will also disable the DEMO mode.
• Using the buttons on a supplied remote control will not disable the demonstration mode.

There are two fuses on one of the circuit boards, they have blown. Unplug from power and remove metal cover. Note the position of cover before removing the four screws. Use thin nose pliers to remove fuses from fuse clips. It's easier if you disconnect the black and white connectors on circuit board, they're just above the fuse holders. Replace with BOJACK T4AL250V 5x20 mm 4A 250V, these are available on amazon. Replace black and white connectors if you disconnected them. In future, when plugging in device to line in connector ensure power is off.

Dirty contacts on the buttons. Take apart and use electrical switch cleaner.

When the mouse chewed through, it joined the two wires together so has probably shorted something out. Look inside for a PCB mounted fuse.

Get a CD Optic Cleaning disc. It has small brushes that clean the optics. The tracking laser is lower power and a little bit of dust will make it so that it can't read the tracks.
