Hi Your Problem need an expert Technician, this Aiwa stereo has the digital type volume control that gives pulses to the cpu to make volume up / Down. HelloYou have to open the unit to take the CD out of it. If you can, do this. If you are not able to doe this work, contact the nearest authorsed service center for Aiwa at your town. Aiwa is not a brand in market now, as Sony Corporation has purchased Aiwa. so it will be best to contact the Sony Authorised Service center at your town. OK.

1 Connect the front speakers.

Connect the right front speaker to the SPEAKERS R terminals and place it on the right side of the unit. Connect the left to the SPEAKERS L terminals and place it on the left side.The speaker cords with the white stripes go to the + terminals.

Check your speaker connections, make sure wires are not touching each other. If this is ok, then check your speakers with a meter for an internal voice coil short. (blown) If you don't know how to use a meter, take your speakers to a local "Radio Shack" or electronics shop and they can test them very quickly. If wires and speakers check out ok, you have an internal problem with the system and it will need serviced. Hope this helps.

Tape drive mechanism requires service (cleaning and lubrication) and might need replacement of drive belts. Of course its qualified tech job.

Sounds like the belt is slipping or broken. You should first listen with your ear near the cassette door to see if the motor trys to work. Many units use the main belt to work the lift mech. for the heads, If that doesnt have enough grip the motor will spin(Which you can hear lightly) and the unit does nothing.

The complexity of the solution depends on the problem. The drive belt or pinch roller may be worn or have a hardened surface. If the tape doesn't turn at all or only very slowly in any function, verify that the tape drive motor is running and that the belt is turning the pulley(s). If the tape tends to tangle up, check the pinch roller.
