Alpine MRD-M1005 Subwoofer Amp Problem

He may be right! You might try finding a new source of contact for your ground cause it may not be sufficent enough to ground to, also make sure that no wires from the back of your radio have any wires sticking out touching other interfering things that could possibly be causing the noise

Amp powers on, no sound from subs

the output is blown. It is in need of service.
There are many different ways that an amp can fail but the two most common failures are shorted output transistors and blown power supply transistors (< those are not blown). There are several types of protection circuits in amplifiers. The most common are over-current and thermal. The over-current protection is supposed to protect the output transistors. Sometimes it doesn't work well enough to prevent the failure of the output transistors but it will work well enough to shut the supply down before the power supply FETs are destroyed. If the amp remains in protect mode, goes into protect mode or blows the fuse as soon as the remote voltage is applied, shorted output transistors are almost certainly the cause.

Can I fix a fried amp?

Hi, how good are you with electronics? Are you able to open up the amp and see any obvious problems? I suggest that if your not very good with electronic circuits, get a professional to have a look at it, as if you damage it more by trying to fix it your self, it will probably cost you more to fix it. It may be as simple as an earth track been burnt, but even that in most cases will force you to completely disassemble the amp to find the problem. It may also be the diode right next to the power supply terminals that may be damaged and in some cases that can cause problems. Let me know if you open the amp, if possible post some pics and will see if there is something obvious that stands out. Cheers

How do i fixs cur code

yes you have a internal fault of the amp. the circuit that puts it into safe mode is bad and that is a very small chip on the board know as a op amp. needs to be repaired.

What is cur code

Hello, i had the same problem, double check your grounds, thats all it was.
For reference, the error code "CUR" means in the manual (http://www.analogstereo.com/pdf/alpine_mrd_m1000.pdf)
• The amplifier has been shutdowndue to excessive current. • Find and eliminate the causeof the excessive current, thenturn the power off.
Please Note: Underpowering subs can make your amp goes to protection.

I have a 1000w amp but it got burned why??

Hello,

I'm sorry but your problem was a little confusing. Your speakers worked fine, you hooked up a 1000W amp and now you cant hear the sound ?

Then you say "they say because the wires were connected wrong in the amp it burned" does that mean your amp burnt out ?

Please post back and sort these facts out for further assistance.
As of right now im not sure if the problem is with the speakers or the amp itself.

Amp turns on, no sound comes out, replaced output transistors

i would be looking into the input stage of the amp. seeing that amp has a protection circuit if it saw a issue with the output's it would put the amp into protect mode and not let the power supply turn on. so the issue is most likely in the input side of the board . from the symptoms it sounds that way also.

When I hook my JL W7 sub to my alpine mrd m1005

Hello christensen7,

It sounds like there's DC current on the amp output terminals. Disconnect the sub and test the output with a multimeter. If there's DC there, most likely the amp is shorted internally and needs repair.

Hope this helps.

Over heats

Hi the over heat will be a result of the fan not running. Most likely the fan itself is faulty, however could be the control also. (more likely fan). Make sure the fan is not being stopped by dirt etc, if you have a tester you can check and see if there is voltage at the fan (when the amp is hot), if there is, replace or seek someone that can assist.
Best of luck
