How do I get audio through the receiver instead of the tv speakers

The TV will have either a Digital Output, Optical Output, and simple RCA jacks, left and right analog. Use any open input on your receiver, and switch that input to digital or analog, whichever is appropriate for the input signal you are using. You can also take the audio output directly from e cable or satellite receiver and wire it into you receiver, as I mentioned above.

How can I get video again?

Well, the first thing I need to know is, are you using HDMI, Component Video, or Composite video? You can also try a factory reset, in case some button is switched to the wrong position. The reset procedure can be found in the owner's manual. You could have a switching IC(an IC that changes the different inputs, or a microprocessor IC( a computer within your receiver) which is bad. If you still need further assistance, please contact me on my website at, audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

What is the problem if the stanby indicator flashes red and doesnt fire up?

First disconnect all the speakers. See if the unit will fire up after disconnecting it from the power for 1 hour or more. If it does you have a short in your speaker wiring. Check your connections and reconnect if it fires up. Now refer to page 129 of your manual. If the unit does not fire up, press VCR/DVD, while keeping it depressed press the on button. "Clear" should appear in the screen. If clear does not appear or resetting to default does not allow the unit to fire up, then another Onkyblow has bitten the dust and is fried. If it fires up after setting back to factory default, then you will have to redo your set up from scratch.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
