I have an Oreck vacuum. My son used it just earlier today and it worked just fine, then just a little while ago a tried to turn it on to vacuum our bedroom and suddenly it won't turn on! I tried plugging it into other outlets but it was no use. My husband takes a look at it and first thinks that the switch is out in it. He takes the handle apart and quickly realizes that it is not the switch that is causing the problem. Then he took the base of the vacuum apart, removes the spin brush part and cleans it off, puts it back together, and suddenly it works! He said that when those brushes get real dirty the motor gets clogged, then it just won't turn on. I'm just happy I married someone who can figure these things out, because even if I knew the problem I'm still no good with a screwdriver, taking things apart and putting them back together again. Hope this works for your Oreck too and it's running again for you soon.

The best solution to any Oreck vacuum problem is to replace it with another brand. You are going to continue having problems with the Oreck..Not that other brands don't have problems. But, at least with
other brands the problems don't occur as often. Belt burning up. clogs, roller brush bristle wearing down prematurely, cord breaking internally, etc.
P.S. Oreck is good at one thing. Marketing!

that happened to me and I took the handle apart there is a plug in there that needed to be plugged back in hope that helps you

place handle half with the posts that hold the screws facing up.

silver pole with hole that goes completely throuigh goes over lower screw post (Long side)

static wire - L shaped end goes in small hole on opposite side of handle just below
vacuum switch hole, curve of wire should follow curve of handle and fits into top of
silver pole and pushes againt it providing push to hold siver pole.

Patricia, It could be a couple of things that need looking at. You might need a new brush roller or a new motor housing. It sounds like something is allowing the belt to "ride" off of the pulley and it could be that the pulley is worn, or the housing that the brush is mounted in is now worn and the brush sits at an angle instead of being straight across. Take your belt off and wiggle the brush while looking at the brush mount. If the bearing wobbles in the mount area, you need a new housing. Depending on when you purchased this vacuum, there might be a possibility that it might be under warranty. Hope this helps!

The cloth bag can be soaked in warm water with a mild soap solution. Rinse well and let it hang to air dry. We usually let it hang all day in the sun when we can.

You need to make sure that the rubber "O" ring is under the collar. You also need to make sure that you tighten it fully, there are three "bumps" that you need to make sure that you tighten the collar to.

You probably have a broken fan blade and that could be the cause of your noise. Suggest taking it to a repair shop.

Open up the plastic part of your handle and make sure that all wires are connected to the switch properly. I frequently see one of the wires come off from the switch and that will stop it every time. If that does not take care of your problem you probably need a multimeter to be able to trace through the wiring to see if there is a break. Hope this helps!

Look up the local Oreck store in your city/town. They carry most of the parts to repair an Oreck. I have a similar model and found the store near me has everything. You can even bring them your unit so they can see exactly what you need. You only have to pay for the part(s) needed and reassemble everything yourself.

I would recommend using another cleaning method developed for use on hardwoods. It seems to me like even if you replace the wheels, eventually they will wear down again, causing more damage to your floors. Check home depot, ask them what the recommend. Hope I could help.

first,do you have an owners manual for this orek? second,if you can't find it call orek and they will gladly tell you.

do you use a docking station to put your bag on or is it just a push on bag? also when you turn on the vac with an empty bag in it, does the outter bag blow up?

Make sure that your bag is pushed all the way past the lip on the connector tube and that the "U" shaped part of the plastic assembly is in it's slot behind that lip, or it will not seal properly and you will get dust into the outer bag.

When mine did that, I bought a new roller and it runs like new now. Good luck
