Bobin doesn;t spin

Generally it is a rubber wheel......bobbin winder rubber........different models have different diameter, but Kenmore is a Janome or New Home brand, so see your local dealer..........if you can remove the top cover you will see the mechanism, but if it is a 2 part moulded body, take it in to the shop because you will break things without a service manual.
Janome Dealer Finder in USA........HERE
if elsewhere, google Janome for your own country.

Thread bunching up under fabric.

Be sure that the thread is in the TAKE-UP lever. There are four thead guide the thread must pass through. From the spool through the first thread guide at #1 than straight down to #2 than up to #3 throught the take-up lever and straight down to the left of the needle and throught hte neele form fornt ot back.

If the thread is not in that take-up lever the machine will not have any top tension (or be regulated) it will flood the machine with thread and wrap around that bobbin.

Also, be sure have you presser foot int he up position while threading this way the thread will surely pass through the tension disks, Set your top tension at 4, use good quality thread (get rid of the dual duty or all purpose) All of these steps will ensure a perfect balanced stitch.

Sewing problem

I don't quite understand what narenjay is asking, but Kaynh, it sounds like you may not be pulling enough thread through to start with. You need to pull a good few inches through before you start sewing.

Older kenmore sewing maching in desk.

The model number will be on the compliance plate that has the power rating, serial no. etc.

The number you need is immediately after V

So it might read something like:

1234321 / 45654 / V9876

So the model would be 9876

Janome make Kenmore, so ask your local dealer if they could find out the equivalent part for you.........perhaps arrange to take it to the workshop.

Also, many Service centres will have 2nd hand parts from deceased machines, worth a few phone calls once you have the model nailed down, although there are only so many variants to basic components like needle plate, bobbin or foot control.

Without seeing the machine that is the best advice I can offer, hope you have success.

Handwheel does not disengage from needle when pulled out (11206 model)

Phone the shop where you bought it and arrange to take it back...this should not happen to a new machine....and if it is something you are doing, they will be able to advise you, if it is the machine, they will sort it out under warantee.

Putting back the pieces of bobbin case on Kenmore Mini Handi

This is for front loading bobbin..........

The Shuttle hook will look very much like this, and marries this to the "half moon" of the fixed shuttle.

3ff0a50.gif
The retaining collar ring that holds it all together has a plate like protrusion (like bull horns), this faces to the top and to the back.......there should be a small lug (or two) with corresponding small hole or slot on the fixed housing (hook race) that locates the ring tightly in the correct position.

There should be 2 swivel arms (black plastic at 4 o'clock & 8 o'clock)) that move to hold the whole thing together by clipping onto a small lug on each side of the ring.

If you tip the machine 30 degrees on its back while you do all this, it makes the process easier, as things are less likely to fall out.........support the back with a soft object for convenience (tissue box, pillow etc)

The bobbin case goes in after the housing is assembled, if you try to do it first, it will prove more difficult.

If this is not quite accurate for your model a photo of the bits would be helpful

Handwheel is stuck

NEVER force a newer model machine. Everything inside is plastic and WILL break. Remove the needle, bobbin, bobbin case, and unthread the machine. See if the handwheel turns. If it doesn't, several things could be wrong. The lower end machines won't have belts to come off, they will be fully gear driven. If it is a better machine, it might be a belt problem. Small pieces of thread could be stuck in a gear mesh somewhere. A gear could be broken. It is possible for a gear to break on the first use.

Looking for a walking foot for Kenmore 385.16554 model. Where can I get one?

Most good sewing machine suppliers should be able to get you one. If yours is a reasonably new machine (last 20 years or so) and it is a low shank machine they're quite easy to get and usually reasonably cheap.

Missing manual

RE: Kenmore Jaguar Quick System sewing machine, model # 158.1070180 I have this machine and the manual. I even still have the receipt from when I bought it in April 1990. It just stopped working this year. I might hold on to it and get it repaired one day. Handy little machine, I took it everywhere with me. Is there someplace I could send you a scanned copy if you're still looking for it? Tina

Kenmore 158.17600 Sewing Machine. It is not feeding fabric?

You don't need to replace them, because fabric doesn't wear away hardened steel. When was it last cleaned, lubricated, adjusted and timed? They need doing every couple of years whether you use the machine or not. https://www.google.com/search?q=sewing+machine+service+and+repair+near+me ..

How do you adjust the feed dog height on a Kenmore 1690 (158.16900) sewing machine?

To adjust the feed dog height on a Kenmore 1690 (158.16900) sewing machine, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the sewing machine and unplug it from the power source for safety.
  2. Remove the needle and presser foot from the machine.
  3. Locate the feed dog adjustment screw, which is usually located on the backside of the sewing machine, near the feed dogs.
  4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the feed dog adjustment screw. It might be a slotted screw or a thumbscrew, depending on the model.
  5. Gradually adjust the height of the feed dogs by turning the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise. Clockwise rotation raises the feed dogs, while counterclockwise rotation lowers them. Make small adjustments and test with a scrap fabric after each turn to achieve the desired height.
  6. Once you have set the feed dog height, tighten the adjustment screw securely.
  7. Reinstall the needle and presser foot, and plug in the sewing machine.
  8. Test the machine with a piece of fabric to ensure the feed dogs are working properly and at the desired height.
It is important to consult the sewing machine manual for specific instructions related to your model, as the location of the adjustment screw may vary.
