Unfortunately, a machine that old is really limited on what Os it can take, because of technical advances, and planned obsolesence. If the Philips website doesn't have an upgrade for this model then you are preety much out of luck.

Try plugging the phone in the handset jack of the fax

to hack anything google it. or buy the new CANON tank printers. Canon , ended printer INK HOSTAGEEEEEE taking GONE, avoid HP is bliss. Life is way to short for INK counter malarkey. for sure.

Electrolytic capacitors, like car batteries, exhaust in time and become blobs of goo. If unused they leak and fail, if overused they wear out or over heat. Replacement of this machine is the only useful outcome. Sorry but fact for a 17 year old disposable machine that is now obsolete.

The batteries could have died in the remote and need to be replaced. Or the remote might be broken and you should buy another remote for your TV or it could be on the wrong settings for the remote.

I find that often this is resolved after has been on for a few minutes as the tube warms up.
Particularly true in current cold spell !!
