My computer will not reconize it what do i do it is a smp228

Hello,

Check page 2 of the manual:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/SYL_SMP228_EN.PDF

14bf238.jpg
When the SigmaTel firmware downloader is required and not available on the computer or CD, first download an MPS player updater like next one (zip file 6.4 MB):
http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/CUR_MPS1015_FW-UPGRADE.ZIP
After the download, unzip this file and run the setup.exe file.
When asked, connect the device for upgrading / reinstalling firmware.

Curtis mp3 player

I think you are going to have to connect the Player up to your PC via it's USB cable and then possibly repartition and reformat.. Do you have the, any? software that came with ya player installed on ya PC? If so often all "Utilities" to do this are included. Here is a link to the Curtis web troubleshooting I am sure ya will find help there too. http://www.curtisint.com/support/troubleShooting.asp

I had the same problems you described and kind of stumbled my way through a solution. Hope this helps:

First you need either the driver cd or down load the drivers from the curtis website. Btw, there is also a pdf'd version of the procedures.doc that they are referring to (I too could not find after downloading the zip file wth the firmware update).

1. Hold down the on button on your MP3 player, and plug the player into your PC (via USB cable). Keep holding the on button until the found new hardware wizard comes up. (you can let go after that)

2. Check "Install from a list of specific location", click next.
3. Check "Include this location in search" and point to location of your driver files (either CD or folder that you saved them in). You only need to navigate to the "Driver" folder, and it should do the rest. Complete the rest of the New Hardware Wizard.

Here is where the document differs from my experience.
4. You will be prompted to restart your PC.

At this point it was all trial and error and I had to perform the first step again to get the MP3 player to re-connect to my pc.

5. Unplug player, hold start button down, plug back into PC.
6. Locate the firmware upgrade folder that you downloaded from the Curtis website. In this zip file, there is an app folder, open. In the app folder ther is an .exe file named "stupdaterapp.exe, double click on this .exe file.
7. The updater should pop up (Sigma Tel MSCN Firmware Download dialog box).
8. Check the "Format Data Area" box and click yes to the warning message that pops up.

It should start checking your mp3 player's firmware to compare to the updated version. If at any time the box under the format data area box says "Please connect device", unplug mp3 player and try plugging in again while holding the power button.
If the start button at the bottom of the box is NOT greyed out, then you are in good shape.

9. Click start and ensure that the MP3 player is not unplugged during this process.

This worked for me. Hope it does for you too.

How do you delete song off a curtis mp3

Use Windows Media Player:
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/sync.mspx

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/getstarted/ripcd.mspx

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:
