I need to clean my

The laser lens or 'eye' will be near to the centre of the disc tray - but not dead centre. You will see it if it sits on a block (with the spindle motor nearby). Obviously the tray will be just above the lens. It is the only 'eye' in the whole unit.

Just keep in mind how your player is assembled prior to removing any covers to clean the lens.

Hopefully you will be able to clean this carefully and easily. I recommend that you gently clean the disc tray as well. There should already be a tip on FixYa about cleaning DVD drives and laser lenses.

Generally, I don't recommend that users disassemble DVD players to clean them. This should really be done by a skilled workshop technician with access to proper facilities and equipment.

In any case, if you know how the unit is put together before you go further, you should have no problem re-assembling it once clean, and it should work fine. Costs you nothing to try it but be warned about the potential risks involved; and do not attempt any service or look at the laser while the unit is plugged in.

I am not sure why you proceeded to take the player apart - is there a second problem with it that you haven't mentioned?

I lost the instructions. Can you tell me what to

As long as your cables are all connected, on your remote you need to change SOURCE or INPUT to change what device is sending the info to your TV. Make sure your DVD is on. The CD/DVD should auto start. If not, just push play on either the remote or the device. Then when you are done push the Input or Source button again to switch your TV back to TV Mode. Hope that helps.

I have no remote for it and i would like to select

I'm not sure about this brand, but I presume a universal remote may do the job. They are available just about anywhere and are inexpensive. The price will depend on whether you want an all-in-one remote or a basic one. I doubt you would be able to get the original for this brand/model, although you could look on eBay or amazon, or go with the first suggestion; buy a universal from your nearest store.

My DVD icon"Read" takes several

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.
