Unless you have a second DVD player (or a PC with a DVD drive or similar) on hand, to cross-reference the discs with, you won't be able to tell if it is the discs or the Daewoo player that has the issue. It could just be a bad batch of discs, but without the second player available to confirm this, there is little you can do.

On the other hand, some of the discs may not be NTSC, they may be PAL, and unless your player supports PAL compatible playback, it won't play it. Rare, but not uncommon (some PAL DVD players won't play NTSC discs regardless of the region code), and it is not your player that is necessarily at fault here.

Your lens is dirty and need a cleaning by using lens cd cleaner

Diagnosing the fauty parts on dvd player is quite technical but i will suggest a diy solution that may help you on your problem.
Try cleaning the Lens of your DVD(It might be covered by dust thats why it can't read any disc) by a soft cotton bud. Be careful while doing these and try if it will work.
If the problem is still there then i've advice you to send it to repair shop to replace the faulty parts.

Hi i have had a similar problem to this before. I never could get it open without force, but if it is only the disc you are after then i would recommend forcefully removing the disc with a knife opening the dvd slot or by unplugging everything and unscrewing the dvd player altogether there might be something lodged in the dvd player preventing it from reading or opening. Be sure to press the power button when you unplug as it may contain electricity still.

It might solve the issue. You might have something further you might want to unplug it pop off the cover and see if there is any debris in the unit if not use a tape cleaner (might help) I cannot grantee that tho.

Worse comes to worse here you might have a head issue but lets not put the cart in front of the horse and try other the tape solution and opening the unit. Make sure when you open it tho do not touch any transformers you might get shocked I am sure you know what your doing if not please ask. But Good luck with it, BTW these are very cheap if you have to replace the unit you can get one for under $30 bucks easy.

Go to Daewoo's website, download User's Manual and order replacement remote that is compatable with your Daewoo model; others WON'T WORK!

Is the picturejust snow or no picture at all? Most cleaning tapes won't work if the heads have been clogged up because of a bad tape. A professional cleaning and alignment may be in order here. Can you clarify the lack of picture please?
