if the ps3 is set to hdmi it will not work threw the av cables. you need to change the settings on the ps3 to use av cable. its mostly set to hdmi as factory setup .

The 27" TV uses the same instructions as the 20", and I found the manual for you at the link below. Answering your question directly, here is the section of the instructions about changing input: ----- Changing the TV's Input Normally, your TV displays the signal coming through the antenna terminal. However, if you've connected another component to your TV(such as a VCR & DVD) using the Video/Audio input,you will want to be able to view the signal from the component.To do this, you will need to switch from the ' TV ' input to the 'AV1-AV3, CVI' Input, as follows. 1 With the TV on, press the MENU button twice, then " Set-Up " menu will appear. 2 Use the WCHV buttons to select " Input ". 3 Press the CVOLB buttons to change the input source from ' TV ' to 'AV1, AV2, AV3, CVI'. 4 Wait 20 seconds, or press DISPLAY button or MENU button to return to normal TV viewing. * CVI means the Component Video Input (Y/ PB/ PR) from the DVD player etc.* Users can also select these input modes with the TV/AV button or the INPUT button on theremote controller. * On the AV1 mode , if you connect the S-VHS jack to your TV, "AV1" is changed to "S-VIDEO". ---------------- The link to the manual is below.

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

Sounds like your closed caption may be on and here is how to turn it off..

1. Press the menu button until you get to the "SPECIAL" menu.
2. Make sure that Closed Caption and CC on mute are both set to OFF.

This should make that black box go away...

Hi there.
There may be some residue inside between the buttons and the circuit board.
You can open the remote and separate the rubber pad and the board.
then use some Qtips and rubbing alcool to clean the inside of the pad where the buttons make contact(little round black spots) then clean the circuit board itself where the buttons make contact.
Try to remove the residues but do not rub too hard on the contacts, you don`t want to remove the black carbon coating that is what makes the contact. You just want them a dull(not shiny) black color.
If you do it right you`ll see an improvement but remember that those contacts don`t last forever.

sounds like the tube is going on the set best thing to do is consider buying a new tv or take to your local tv repair shop and they should be able to sort it for ya :D

6 year old tv probably not digital ready. The converter box will work if tv is on channel 3 and you use a UHF antenna. Most converter box connections have 75 ohm connectors, your tv may have the round connector to accept the input signal. If you have screw on terminals on the tv you will have to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a matching transformer to go between the tv and the converter box. UHF antenna can be made out of a coat hanger. Just make a circle clean the paint off ends and attach. Or just buy a digital booster antenna at WalMart.

Offhand, old TVs have a video in and a single/mono audio in. The PS3 has a yellow video out and 2 audio out (red & white) L/R. The yellow should go to the video in of the TV while the red & white should go to an adapter whose single end goes to the audio in. The adapter would look something like the image below.
