You can buy an AC line conditioner, they range from cheap and useless to expensive and exotic, which is able to filter interference coming over the power lines. You didn't mention which model of the Wave Radio you have but since you have a 9V battery it narrows it down to a couple of models. You might want to check the Q4 transistor (2SC3792) for a short on the two outide pins. With the power disconnected, measure with a multimeter the resistance between the two outside pins of the Q4 transistor. If you measure anything between 0-3 ohms it is shorted. Replace this part with a similar part or you could replace it with the new Bose recommended part - 2SD438F-MP-E but it is very hard to obtain. I have used an 2SC2655 instead and had no problems so far with the radio. This radio also came in totally dead with no display nor the radio working.

Yes...it should be able to talk to the tv via optical cable and switch itself off and on via the tv remote.sometimes they only used RCA connecting cables I.e. Red and white audio instead of lazer or hdmi pass through.

If like that with all disks then the laser assembly is shot.
