The unit is SUBJECT to radio interference from other systems in the area such as high power taxicab radios for example and other services. 30 seconds might be about the time for a radio transmission. The system, while being interfered with, likely will NOT generate audible sounds and due to the squelch algorithm may MUTE the system.
Sorry, but you are a SECONDARY user per FCC definition and they are licensed and you are sharing bandwidth. You cannot interfere with them, but they can interfere with you. You should probablly get a UHF system that has less chance of interference. While recording, frankly I would be wired, not wireless. I am both an electrical engineer nd a HAM so I am aware of these problems.
Samson MDR8 blowing internal power supply fuses.
Here is a troubleshooting hint:
Put an incandescent lamp in series with the hot side of the power cord. This acts as a resetable fuse while troubleshooting so you don't blow fuses.
Schematics are hard to come by, but power supplies are easy to trace the circuitry.
Check filter caps and the diodes and THEN look for hot (temp) IC's and transistors.

The most likely case is that one of the main output transistors (if which there are many) is shorted. When the protect circuit senses DC on the final output, it will not allow the output relay to come on to protect the speakers from raw DC. With the power removed, you can check between each outputs Emitter and Collector and you will probably find close to zero ohms. From that point you need to unsolder each of the pins of the bad channel until you find the shorted device(s) and replace them.

No or very little sound from Fender passport
Depending on the model, there are four around that date, it could be the insert jacks are tarnished reducing the signal flow between the pre amp stage and digital power amplifier. It could be the power amplifier has failed. It could even be customer error in wiring.
This assumes there is the correct level of signal entering the input sockets of course.
