Hi the sound in my
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any further volume control settings you will need to right click on the volume icon system select adjust volume

the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers if you dont have a motherboard disk or the drivers you will need to download them

Could be a couple of things.
Step 1. Check to make sure the speakers are plugged in all the way into the aduio jack.
Step 2. Ensure the audio cable is plugged into the correct audio port.
Step 3. Check to ensure that the speaker knowb is turned up.
Step 4. Check to ensure that your volume on your computer is turned up.
Step 5. Check to ensure that the volume on your computer is not muted.
Step 6. Check to see if your Audio hardware is enabled on your computer.

Be sure to plug into the "green" socket on the front of the computer, not the "pink" (microphone) or "blue" (headphone output from iPod) socket.
Try the speakers in the "green" socket on the back of the computer, to ensure that the speakers work, and the volume control is "high", and that you have not "muted" your speakers.
Some motherboards have a small "jumper" to enable/disable the front audio-output sockets.
Try the speakers when connected to the headphone-output from your iPod, to confirm that they work -- they could be quite quiet.
Standby light on, but won't power on
