If your seagate drive is full then it wont let you back it up you will need a bigger storage space or by cleaning out your computer you can remove the backup by going into backup options locate by double clicking the flag in the bottom right hand side of your monitor and delete it or by going into your seagate and deleting the backup folder forcing it to back it all up again
Hallo my name is Paul. I am calling for some help
Well, this is an external plug and play drive so all you've got to do is power up your computer and once it's up and running plug in the USB from the drive into your PC's USB slot.
1) Under My Computer it should display as an external drive. If your main hard drive is assigned the drive letter 'C' and your DVD drive is assigned the letter 'D' then the FreeAgent GoFlex should be assigned to the letter 'E' or 'F' etc.
2) Once you've plugged it in and the computer recognises it then if it's a newly bought hardrive I suggest you give it a good 'ol format just to make sure it is ready to recieve files and data.
3) To do this all you've got to do is right click on the FreeAgent GoFlex in My Computer and select Format.
Once the format is complete that's all there is to it.
Can you use a Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex
Yes, but because it's a hard disk and has low transfer speeds it will actually slow down the pc instead of making it work faster. Ready boost is designed to be used only with memory sticks of the latest generation.

Hi, I bought a Seagate
Did you reformat the FreeAgent drive when you backed up the Mac? If you use Time Machine or other backup software for the Mac, you had to reformat the drive. If you want the PC to read the disc, it must be formatted in a FAT32 or NTFS file system. The Mac OS formats discs in the HFS+ (extended hard drive format) system.
Unfortunately, if you reformat the disc to a Windows compatible format, you will lose your current backup. The drive will be as a large media transfer disc but not for the backup images. This site,
http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~pcarbo/macnexstar.html , has information on splitting the hard drive into two partitions, one HFS+ and one FAT32. Then you could have your backup on one part of the GoFlex and still transfer files from the Mac to the PC and vice versa.
I hope this helps.

Copy, Paste. Just choose what files you want to copy over, and WHERE you want to store them.
If I were you I would create a new folder on the desktop, right-click an open space, new folder.
Then highlight all your old files, right-click, copy. Open the "new folder", right-click empty space, paste.

Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. As you describe the situation on the hard drive it seems to be that the hard drive is bad. Usually Plug and Play device will be automatically detected by a computer. Since the cables are working we can say that the drive has a problem. We wont be
anble to recover any files unless it will be detected by the computer. The best thing to do with this one if the hard drive is faulty is to
RMA the Hard drive if it still has warranty. You can use the link below to check the warranty.
Seagate Warranty Support and Returns Assistance Seagate also have
Data Recovery Service of their product if the hard drive is
defective.
Unfortunately the disk is bad and if the file is important better to get intouch with
Seagate since they are the expert on their products.
If you have questions please let me know.
Thanks for using Fixya
