Go to your computer hard drive Local disk C:/ right click on it it you will see Properties at the bottom click it and you will see tools on top click it,then the back up option.and select your data plugged in what ever letter it is that says seagate.... make sure the lead/s that attach to your hard drive are securely seated if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x right click to reinstall drivers or if you can see your usb but its not working ports(com&lpt)right click update driver hope this helps

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

if this fails to fix the problem you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap hope this helps

if you can access your drive click start all programs accessories open windows explorer my computer you should see your drive click to open it from there you select the files right click on the file/s right click copy navigate back to the destination drive right click select paste or hold the mouse cursor the file/s drag them to your destination drive then drop them in hope it helps

Did the driver succesfully installed on your mac?
It does support MAC computers

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

i have found tick one box wait until it has finished the return and tick the other to work better for me

you need to scan it with the latest anti Virus application

Failed backups can usually be traced to your antivirus running in the backgound. if you have any active antivirus and spyware detection running then stop them before you backup. Should work ok then.

Disconnect, remove drivers, reconnect, and allow it to be detected and reinstall drivers.

you can delete pictures and personal pictures of your hard drive

Hello Gravi,

Please try one of the following options.

Try different USB ports.
If that didnt work, then try updating/reinstalling your USBdrivers.
Try after these options a reboot first.

Most likely the hard drive is formated as NTFS and you will need to download a 3rd party app in order to write to an NTFS file system in Mac OS X, such as Tuxera NTFS or NTFS For Mac OS X
