Technics sx pr 150 piano Some notes play at low volume

If certain notes on your Technics SX-PR150 digital piano are playing at a lower volume than others, it's possible that there could be a few underlying reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
  1. Dust and Debris:
    • Check if there is any dust, debris, or foreign objects present around the keys and internal components. Dust or debris could affect the key's action and cause uneven volume levels.
  2. Contact Cleaning:
    • If you're comfortable doing so, you can carefully open the piano and clean the contacts underneath the affected keys. Contacts that have accumulated dirt or oxidation might lead to volume inconsistencies. Use a clean, dry cloth or contact cleaner specifically designed for electronics.
  3. Key Mechanism:
    • Inspect the key mechanism for any signs of physical damage, misalignment, or wear. Damaged or misaligned keys could lead to uneven volume levels.
  4. Sensors and Sensors Board:
    • Digital pianos like the Technics SX-PR150 use sensors to detect key presses and control volume. If a sensor is malfunctioning or damaged, it could result in volume inconsistencies. Check the sensors and their connections for any issues.
  5. Audio Output and Amplification:
    • Check if the issue is specific to the internal speakers or if it also occurs when using headphones or external amplification. If the issue is present across all audio outputs, it might be related to the piano's internal components.
  6. Factory Reset:
    • Perform a factory reset on the piano to restore its settings to default. This can help rule out any software-related issues that might be affecting the volume levels.
  7. Professional Inspection:
    • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's recommended to seek the assistance of a professional technician who is experienced in repairing digital pianos. They can diagnose the problem accurately and perform any necessary repairs.
Please exercise caution while performing any internal inspections or repairs on your digital piano, especially if you're not experienced in working with electronic equipment. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it's best to seek professional help to avoid causing further damage.

Why does my technics Digital piano my ears throb?

Experiencing discomfort or pain in your ears while playing your Technics digital piano is not a normal occurrence and could be a sign of an issue that needs attention. There are a few potential reasons for this phenomenon:
  1. Frequency Range: It's possible that certain frequencies produced by the piano are resonating with the natural frequencies of your ears or the surrounding environment, causing discomfort. This could explain why you feel it more in specific ranges of the keyboard.
  2. Acoustic Properties: The sound produced by the piano might be reflecting off nearby surfaces or causing standing waves in the room, which can create resonances that affect your ears.
  3. Volume Level: If the piano's volume is too high, it could lead to discomfort or pain in your ears. Even if the volume seems moderate, it's possible that specific frequencies or overtones are causing issues.
  4. Headphones: The fact that you don't experience this issue when using headphones suggests that the problem might be related to the piano's built-in speakers or its interaction with the acoustics of your environment.
  5. Electronic Components: There could be a malfunction or interference in the piano's electronic components that is affecting the sound output in a way that causes discomfort.
To address this issue:
  1. Volume Control: Try lowering the volume of the piano and see if the discomfort lessens. Gradually increase the volume until you find a level that doesn't cause discomfort.
  2. Room Acoustics: Experiment with placing the piano in different locations within the room to see if it affects the sensation you're experiencing. You could also try using soft materials like curtains, rugs, or acoustic panels to dampen reflections and standing waves.
  3. Equalization: If your piano has an equalizer or tone control settings, try adjusting them to see if it reduces the discomfort.
  4. Professional Inspection: If the issue persists, consider having the piano inspected by a technician to check for any electronic or acoustic anomalies.
  5. Expert Advice: If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be best to consult with an audiologist or a professional musician who has experience with piano-related sound sensitivities. They might be able to provide more personalized advice and recommendations.
Your health and well-being are important, so it's essential to address any discomfort or pain you're experiencing while playing your digital piano.

  1. Check the Headphone Output:
    • Make sure that the headphone output jack is clean and free of any debris. Sometimes, dirt or dust can accumulate and affect the signal.
  2. Output Mode:
    • Double-check the output mode settings on your Boss BR 1180. There might be a setting that affects the stereo output, so ensure that it is set correctly.
  3. Output Routing:
    • Verify that the output routing settings are correct. Check if there's a setting that might be causing the output to be directed to only one side.
  4. Master Output:
    • Check the master output settings to ensure they are balanced. If there's an imbalance in the master output settings, it could affect the stereo playback.
  5. Factory Reset:
    • Consider performing a factory reset on your Boss BR 1180. This can often resolve software-related issues that might be causing the playback problem.
  6. External Monitor:
    • If possible, connect the recorder to an external speaker or monitor system using the appropriate outputs to see if the issue persists.
  7. Contact Support:
    • If none of the above steps resolves the issue, it might be a hardware problem within the unit. You might need to contact Boss support or a professional technician for further assistance or repairs.

How can purchase a replacement fader for a RadioShack SSM-1850

Try a good local electronics supply shop as Vince says or eBay. If you can remove it is will have a generic part number from the maker. With that you can Google the number. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Mixer%20Replacement%20Fader&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-156598-679417-4 Or you can get the whole unit for $50 https://reverb.com/item/11188486-radio-shack-ssm-1850-dj-mixer https://www.google.com/search?q=RadioShack+SSM-1850+replacement+fader ..

My kimball electromatic player piano won't

Look near the end of the roll for a hole or other trigger method that triggers the stop. It could be a hole in just one column or possibly a heavy mark on the roll. The later would be sensed by an optical pickup which MIGHT have a lamp burned out. From the site:

http://www.player-care.com/system55.html

It appears that vacumn via holes triggers the stop and the rewind by "pouch" switches. I suspect those swithches trigger and lock the relays in the same pix at the site.

First thing to do is to see if those switches actuate at the end of the roll so as to stop and then rewind.
