WHERE WOULD I INSTALL AN EXTERNAL SOUND CARD?
First, shut down the computer. Next, you will need to locate an unused expansion slot and then determine which type it is. Most newer PC's have "PCI" and "PCI express" slots (there are others). See the image below to help you identify the slots in your PC.
Choose a sound card that will fit one of these unused slots. Read the directions with the sound card. Some will have you install software first - others want the card installed first. Install the card into the slot and secure in slot with screw or clamp used by your PC and software in the order instructed.
You can also install a USB sound card instead of an internal type. This is required if you do not have an available slot or if you are not comfortable opening the PC. Most PCs with sound cards built into the motherboard will automatically be disabled when a second card is introduced to the computer - USB type or otherwise. If yours does not, you may have to disable it in the BIOS or physically remove to old sound card installed in one of the expansion slots.
Good luck!
Is there a way to
you have to order a restore cd from emachines... or look in start -> all programs-> something that says make a restore disk.
How to install a video card,
Find the drivers for your video card that you want to install and get them on the computer before you change cards. Once the driver is on the computer, then you ready to begin. Don't change the drivers to the new one just make sure that its available on your operating system.
Disconnect all cables and power supply from your computer. Press the power button and hold it in to release all energy from the pc. Remove the side cover to all access to the inside of the pc.
Look for the card that has the video connection where you had your monitor connected. Remove the two outside screws on the metal bracket on the back which holds it in place.
Pull the video card out away from the pc towards you. Sometimes you need to wiggle it in order to get it out. Some cards have additional cords which connect other places. The majority that I have seen do not. If your card does, take a permanent marker in order to mark where they connected so that you can remember later.
Insert the new card in the same place where you removed the old one. Put the two screws back in the rear metal plate to keep it in place.
Put the side panel back on. Reconnect all cables and boot it up.

I counted 13 quick beeps at startup on an emachines E520. what dose that mean ? how do i fix it please ?
Thirteen quick beeps at startup on an eMachines E520 usually indicate a problem with the laptop's RAM (Random Access Memory). This could mean that the RAM is not properly seated in its slot, or it could be a sign of a faulty RAM module.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Turn off the laptop and disconnect it from the power source.
Remove the battery from the laptop.
Locate the RAM compartment on the bottom of the laptop.
Check to make sure that the RAM module is seated properly in its slot. You may need to remove and reinsert the RAM module to ensure a proper connection.
Replace the battery and turn on the laptop.
If the problem persists, try removing the RAM module and testing it in a different laptop or using a different RAM module in the eMachines E520 to determine if the problem is with the RAM module itself or with the laptop's RAM slot.
If none of these steps solve the problem, it may be necessary to contact a computer technician for further assistance..

Hi! I have an emachines laptop E525.I is not going on
moved you out of monitors and into laptops, only forum. emachines
full model not old like this example
E525-901G1Mi
windows 7 loaded day1.
- the switch is bad Lid close switch
- set wrong in power settings.
- or the driver is missing that makes this switch work.
so why not just assign the sleep mode, to auto sleep
then on what does the power button do in settings, set to
do nothing or set button to only sleep . (3 choices here)
or
let auto sleep do the work, set. set to say 5min idle.
the switch is inside it deep and if you rip it out as you go there most noobs break 2 or 3 FFC cable jacks and now it is bricked and $300 mobo wrecked
emachines or junk grade, made by Acer.com owned now
and that maker does NOT have service manuals making service a royal Pain.
best is work around the problem as I just told how.
or ask any shop to fix it.
they do know how.!!!
