I do not claim to be an expert, however I recently opened a valueguard 1330 that had been sitting at work abandoned and forgotten for sometime. I used simple hand tools for this, this method is crude but it worked. The underside of the safe has a plug in it which is where the factory fills the safe with an insulation that sets and hardens giving structure and weight. I imagine there is a better way to remove the insulation but at this time i used a hammer. It looks much the same as chalk with a harder consistency, a minute or two of hammering broke up most of it which was then cleared out by hand. underneath is a plastic liner and the inner floor of the safe. Once again I just had hand tools at the time, I used a hammer and punch to perforate the steel in a circular pattern. once this was finished a few solid strikes should be enough to bust through. Please keep in mind a drill would have been optimal, also the hole needs to be large enough for you to put you arm in. On the inside portion of the door there is a cover over the lock assembly held in by one screw, on this safe it was a combination flat head 1/4" drive screw. With the cover plate removed you should now be able to see three plates on a central axis, each plate has a slot that needs to alined with the lock assembly for it to travel. This is incredibly easy when working by feel alone. With all three alined you should be able to turn the handle on the outside counter clockwise and open your safe. I hope this helps anyone not wanting to pay a locksmith or sentry, your safe should still be viable except for the arm sized hole. I would suggest a new safe. Enjoy!

If you have the original paperwork from your purchase or registered your safe when purchased, you should be able to contact the manufacturer for a bypass code. There should be a serial number engraved (or sticker) on the exterior of the safe. Law Enforcement commonly uses this method of gaining entry with a search warrant.

I have a Sentry Model 1610 safe with an electronic lock. Entering the factory 5 digit code gives the green proceed light but the handle won't turn and the door won't open. How can I get the door open?

All you have to do is find your owners manual the sentry safe combination was posted in. Unless you locked it the safe as happens all the time. After all that is the safest place for it right. Or you can just call a locksmith service tech with the serial number

If you removed batteries more than 1 or 2 times in a row, safe may revert back to a factory setting.
The factory number should be on your instruction sheet that came with the safe.
Contact Sentry for the factory safe number that came with your safe.

However, if the safe was not opening before you replaced the batteries it may be a faulty solenoid.

You are pretty stuck with that scenario. With an electronic lock you can use a rare earth magnet to pull the locking bolt but with a manual dial safe, you can't do that. I can remember my business safe combination from 1987 to 2005. You can also write it down. Use a concrete saw or angle grinder and cut the back off it. ..
