Disconnect it for a minute, then plug it back in. It should reset it and you should be able to remove it.

I've had this problem (No disc) with my VR2940 and was preparing to open it up and find and clean the lens that detects the disc. This was suggested as a solution.However, I used a can of compressed air (enviro-duster) and sprayed air in the drive slot (back and forth since I don't know where the lens is located).No problem since, but I keep a can handy.Norm

Pull the power plug from the unit. Wait a minute, then plug it back in. If it still won't open, you'll have to take the player apart to get it out, UNLESS it has the eject port on it - some do. Look around the DVD drive for a small hole, about the diameter of a paper clip. If you find one, straighten a paper clip, unplug the player from power, then use the straightened paper clip by pushing it straight in to the hole, which should trigger the emergency release.

First, you need to have the cable directly input into the recorder.

If you only plug the cable box into the machine, you get what is happening now.
After splitting the cable, one side into te box and the other into the recorder, run the channel seek part of the program and it will scan all the channels available on the cable and place them in memory.

Then plug the output of the cable box into the other input on the recorder, and you get yor pay channels and upper tiers.

Your recorder is now a switching unit as well

These are instructions to open door if DVD is jammed or the DVD recorder wont open.

Unscrew the 7 cover screws and the 2 foot screws. Remover player cover.

Pry the front control cover off from the top of the player and not the bottom with a thin screw driver paying attention not to crack or break the tabs. Just lift them enough to clear the hooks.Then lower the cover withut removing it so you can gain access to the DVD front internal bezel.

On the left side of the DVD recorder there is a notch with a lever in it. gently push on it as this is the release for the DVD door. Remove DVD from tray and close.

Re-install all covers and screws. Machine should work after this.

If there is a firmware download available you can update the firmware, that will fix the problem.

Of course, press copy, the screen should ask what record speed, then press copy again. This should solve your problem.

is this on all dvds you play even none store dvd's or just the store one,s only ?

this could be a region code or laser miss reading the disc.

Unplug it. You'll have to open the cover. Then you may have to remove the tray assembly from the frame. On the bottom you will be able to access the belt. If you're luck, it might be in another location on top or off to the side.

You really should take this unit into a repair shop with the stuck tape as to get this bugger out of the unit will require the tape loading mechanism to be disassembled. if this is not taken apart correctly, you could cause more damage to the unit. Good Luck.

you could also check that the regioncount hasn't been exceeded it can only be changed a certain number of times

It may have condensation inside. Leave it plugged in for 24 hours and try again. There is a sensor on the VHS head.
