It does sound to me like the T-Con. If you can change the channels even though you can't see the picture then that's is a T-Con problem. Especially as you can see the lights. Before replacing any of the boards check for bad solder joints and poor connections between the boards, as the TV does sometimes function right.

If you are using an HDMI cable to connect the DVD player to the TV, it is possible the contacts on the cable are damaged or corroded which will cause the colour to change or disappear. The easiest way to check this is to just buy another cable and to try it.

Its in settings but can be hard to figure out what its saying if its in another language, sometimes a factory reset is the best way to go

go to menu or setting and you should find the language part so you can change it. have a good look should have a list to pick from

Most likely your Tv has a bad Timing controller board or the ribbon cables that connect to it

When electrical equipment gets wet the absolutely last thing you should do is switch it on to check if it still works as that can cause expensive damage, terminal damage and even fire.
