Hitachi 50V500 50 in. HD-Ready LCD Television - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Pink Screen
There is a service bulletin for this problem - you need to reintialize the memory settings in the service menu - I have a pdf file showing how to do this.
How do I get rid of the pink tint on my tv screen
If it is a rear projection TV then I would look to the IC's that control the Red or Hue in the color circuits. Depending on the year, make and model some have some adjustments. If it is a rear projection
unplug it for a night and day and get back there to each one of the picture tubes and feel around and you will a soft thing sort of like the primer on a weed eater. Press and release it several times. This agitates the electrolyte behind the tubes and could possibly cause a color problem. If you have a newer model of the flat type then I don't really know, possibly the main board. I honestly have never ran into screen off color in the newer flat TV's. Sorry I can't be of more help. If it is a pretty new TV I would call the mfg and ask for one of their techs. He is suppose to help even if it is out of warranty.

My TV keeps turning off as soon as I switch it on.
Maybe you need to unplug the t.v. for a few hours and then reset the t.v. if that doesn't help maybe you should purchase another t.v .there are thrift shops that sell different makes and models of tv's for dirt cheap.
New light engine
About two years ago, I had a small red blur in the middle of the screen. That red blur is now all over my screen. I called Hitachi and they said that there's nothing they can do about it because it's almost 4 years old and the warranty has expired. I called a repair shop and they said that it may be a light engine problem and it will cost about $1300 to repair. Might as well get a new TV for that. I did some research and found out that this is a common problem and that you need to be persisting when calling Hitachi and speak to a supervisor. The supervisor said that if a repair person confirms that it's a light engine problem, that they will send the part FREE OF CHARGE (just gotta pay for labor). They will only send a replacement once.
GREEN TINT
Sorry but NO! The bulb provides a back light for the screen and has nothing to do with the color. No green color can be caused by many things, but the most common problem with all of them is either a Green tube gone out or the IC that drives the color is bad. Both of which are major repairs. However, lets make sure - get you a wooden dial (stick) about 3/8" in Dia. and a foot long and while it's playing poke around on the boards. Sometimes bad connections can also cause a color to go out. If you press on a board and the green returns then you probably have a cold solder joint. Then you will want to take that board out and go over all major solder joints with a solder gun and some solder. Also the IC that I talked about will either be on the board that attaches to the rear of the tube or on the board right where the wires of the green tube comes down, there will be one for each tube. It is a small square component and if you know anything about transistors it is in a to-220 case and has 5 leads coming out of it. Check it and see if it is hot, but be careful, when I say hot I mean burn your finger bad before you can turn it loose. If it is hot then that is it, you can try to find one on the internet. Try "alldatasheets.com" if anyone will have one they will. Also if you know where there is a TV that someone has junked you can rob one off it. The best I remember the R G B all have the same IC. You could try replacing it and again sometimes that will solve the problem. Usually when I fixed one thing on that type TV something else went out. You asked if replacing the back light would help. If the back light is out you may have a bad ballast as well. Again I don't know where to get one but I know they are expensive. The rear projection TV is one of the most complicated piece of electronic equipment I have ever seen in my 33 years of working in Electronics. That's why I went to such length to answer your question when NO is the answer. You may be able to get it back by trying some of the things I mentioned and get it going again. The above mentions procedures are what I would try if it were in my shop. If I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me.

I have probably thrown two or three away, but if I were looking I would tru eBay.It may take a while but eventually someone will have one. Also try "shopjimmy's.com and leave them a email and they will try to find you oje. Also there is another guy that is always trying to sell me parts, I have never opened an email but he comes up as "The Parts Guy" you might try and find him and get him looking. In the meantime I will check and see what I have and try to help you. No promises just will look. LOL!
