I put a vhs tape in an the vcr turns off by it
Unplug the power supply for thirty seconds and plug back in, this will reset the processor and might eject the tape. If this fails the next step is remove the top of the combo unit this will give access to the vcr tape, if the tape is spewed in the machine and wrapped around the video head and other mechanical parts use scissors to cut the tape and carefully removing the particles, press power to eject the tape for normal operation. However! if the vcr tape is okay, there may be a loading problem, broken drive belt, bad idler assembly to name a few, this is where a technician will be needed but may not justify cost.
Disc will not eject
When you press the eject button do you hear the loading motor ? if yes! the loading belt is stretched or come apart preventing the tray from opening. To get the disc out is not an easy task, but one trick you can try is get a flat plastic tool "the wider the better" put it in the crevice on the top side of the door and as you pull "gently" press the eject repeatedly, If you are lucky it may pop open, if not a technician would be the next step.
If the red light does
Hi,
Unfortunately - you seems to be correct. The symptoms you mentioned are highly suggestive of faulty lens. The replacement would solve the purpose as you have tried all DIY tricks like cleaning the lens as well as using lens cleaner.
However, in today's world, i would suggest you to invest the money in new player than to get this repaired. There are couple of reasons for the same. First, it is not easy to get the original lens. You might need to use after market lens or similar lens. There is never a guarantee that it would work for more than a certain duration.Secondly, the cost of lens and the time you would spend is not worth repairing it. There are so many new players you could get even under $50.
If you want to repair it, buy a used non working player :-
http://cgi.ebay.com/Malfunctioning-Hitachi-DV-PF2U-Combo-VCR-DVD-Player-/400150795575?pt=DVD_Players_Recorders&hash=item5d2ad89537
Make sure that the lens is fine in that player. I would say it's worth buying the above unit ( make sure that the lens is fine in that player as i have not checked the conditions ) if you really wanted to repair it.
Note - It is really not worth to send it for repair as the repairman would charge you around $50 - $100 labor + parts.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
A possible way is to make use the 3 more montser cables and connect the Hitachi DV-PF2U using the DVD Component Video Out (Y, Cb & Cr) to the Sony KV-32FS100's VIDEO IN 4 (Y, Pb & Pr). This is should enable the MENU to be displayed on the Sony and restore settings to default. In some instances, this connection may prove to be of a better quality compared to the single VIDEO IN (composite).
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
Remote Control
I found a site where you can buy replacement remotes. It is ''remotes.com'' the one for your model is $29.51 plus $7.95 s&h.

Change input on Hitachi LCD TV model LE65K6R9 without remote?
I'd unplug/disconnect the Roku and after 30 seconds try the control button on the back. If you can change the input do so, then plug the Roku back in. Until you use the input button on the back to change input to Roku, you should be able to use the other buttons on the back to control the TV. If this does not work, unplug both the TV and the Roku. Wait maybe a minute, then plug the TV back in and follow the above instructions. Here are other alternatives: Using physical buttons: You can find the physical buttons on the left or right back side of the Hitachi TV. Using these keys, you can change the input, adjust the volume, or turn on Hitachi TV without a remote. Press the Input button located at the back or side of the Hitachi TV. The list of connected sources will appear on the TV screen12.
Using external devices: Connect a wireless keyboard or mouse to your Hitachi TV and change the input1.
Buy a universal remote: You can buy a universal remote to control your Hitachi TV and change the source.

How to remove small popup bottom left of Hitachi smart tv screen.
A little popup that appears in the lower left corner of your Hitachi smart TV screen may be related to one of the TV's settings or capabilities. You can attempt the following actions to get rid of it:
1.Investigate notifications:
Smart TVs occasionally show notifications for different events or upgrades. If there are any notifications, look for them and then clear them by following the on-screen directions.
2.Applications and Inputs:
Make sure all programmes and inputs are closed. The popup may occasionally be connected to an input source or app, which can be closed to get rid of it.
3.On-Screen Display (OSD) Off:
There might be an OSD option in the settings menu on Hitachi TVs. Try disabling OSD or changing its settings to see if it gets rid of the popup.
Verify any software/firmware updates:
4.Make that the most recent firmware or software upgrades are installed on your TV. Pop-up windows may appear as a result of faults in outdated software. Look for a software update option in the TV's settings menu.
5.Firmware Reset:
You can conduct a factory reset on your TV if the problem persists after you've tried various troubleshooting measures. The default values for all settings will be restored as a result. Make cautious to back up any crucial data before doing a factory reset because doing so will also remove any customised settings and data.
6.Message Hitachi Support here:
If none of the aforementioned fixes the problem, it's a good idea to get in touch with Hitachi customer service or refer to the TV's user manual for detailed instructions on how to get rid of the popup.
Regarding External Devices:
7.The popup may be related to any external devices you have connected to your TV, like a cable box or game console. Make sure that these gadgets are operating properly and that the settings have been changed as necessary.
Keep in mind that depending on the type and software version of your Hitachi smart TV, the precise processes and options may change. For instructions unique to your TV model, consult the user manual, or go to the Hitachi website for further help options.

Hitachi LE42S704 none of the HDMI ports work, need to update (i think)
Are you getting the various HDMI inputs on the screen but it acts like nothing is connected? We have repaired hundreds of TV's with no HDMI signal over the years and have never had an update correct this issue. There is an IC close to the HDMI input jacks (U501) that decodes the data, that's always been the defective part. You can order the part and change it but you will need advanced soldering skills and the equipment to do it, I'd recommend replacing the main board if you can find one.
