Double picture (ghosting) is caused by the convergence circuit failing or a bad antenna connection.

Try to Google the model number, about the only way I can think of to find this information. It was at least 2,000 at one point.

Very common problems for DLP tvs,will get worst as times go by.Tv probally have a problems known as a convergence problems,it is dead.Tv have colors lines R,G,B unlevel on the pictures?Crooked pictures have mis colors alignments?Yes.There is no way manually to do an adjustment to fixed for this.Try push the tv remote button that said Magic Focus button.If the tv have data processing never completely done and have a error message and stop.Ur tv 100% have a dead tv convergence board,the tv convergence board must have it parts to be replaced like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.Than tv will be able to run the tv remote Magic Focus again to have a 100% data processing with no error message,tv to fixed this problems.The shop will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

You will need to replace Both of the Convergence ICs ,Located on the left hand side board in back of TV. They are Big Black ICs and will have the part Number on them STK392-110 use the 120s.
Mats has ICs ,but tell them you want the convergence Kit for your Model it will have ICs and Resistors that come with it. ,You will also need to check Low Ohm resistors in the same circuit.

PS. What ever you do (DO NOT) Clear the DC Ram if you do, it Takes over 6 hrs to realine convergence.

There is most likely an issue with the Surround PWB since you have the DP17 chassis. I would check the following items on the surround board. I have seen them all several times with the DP17

IT02 Shorted, pins 92 and 93 caused by Solder splash. IT02 Is also known to fail. Also pins 42, 43, & 44 have been known to have cracked solder
IT05 pins 20 & 21 shorted also Seems to have been caused by too much solder.

IS13, pins 1 & 2 shorted ( too much solder

Also check for cracked circuit trace patterns under IT05If you need further assistance let me know.

your convergence ics are going bad.

Not all DVI inputs are the same. Do you have the manual handy to see if it supports analog DVI?

If it does, you should be able to just use A VGA cable with DVI adapter from your computer to the TV, Select the DVI input on the TV, and make sure your computer display settings are correct (this depends on a few things, so if you need help with that please reply back with more detail about your PC setup)

You need to get into your menu and find where you can reinstall factory settings, or default settings. Also you can try the realignment......

Check ur power source?Yes,wait like about an hour later for the tv resetting back to it factory setting.Recheck all connections inside of the tv for loses or untighten connections?Make sure all connections are tighten and no damage to all the PCB boards tries again tv should work now.

You need to locate and replace both of the two convergence chips the set uses. Most likely they will be STK-392-110 BUT THE NUMBER WILL BE PRINTED ON THEM IN WHITE.

total parts cost if you can do it yourself will be under 30 dollars.

You just need to purchase and replace the projection bulb. That will restore the brightness back to factory new. The price should be about $90. Replacing the bulb isn't that hard but can be a bit difficult (actually annoying) if you have never done it before. If you can get a service guy to do it for you it will be worth the money. Figure about an hours labour for that.

I don;t know your location so can't help you find a repair shop. If you call either the place that sold it or any place that sells them they should be able to tell you who ro where to contact. This is a repair you can do yourself if you are comfortable with it. The bulb is screwwed down with 4 screws and there should only be one connector on that model. If you take your time and keep track of how you got in and what you took apart first then its pretty simple. It can be a bit daunting the first time which is why I would suggest a repair shop if you have any qualms.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.
