Hitachi 53SBX59B 53" Rear Projection Television Questions & Answers
HITACHI ULTRAVISON 53SBX59B WORKED GREAT
To help you I need to know a few things:
Does the power light on front of set come on at all?
Do you hear any kind of a click from the set when you try to turn it on?
Have you followed the power cord inside the set (with set unplugged) to the glass line fuse?
Do not rate my help here until you have told me what you found, the more you tell me the better I can help you.

Vertical collapse of picture then no picture
You most likely don't need to replace a board. You should solder the bottom of the vertical output, it probably has bad connections. If you don't know where the vertical output is, give me a model number and i will give you a location, or take a picture of the deflection board and i will circle it.

Wont turn on anymore
That model may be one that has some bad caps. Check www.tvrepairkits.com for a parts kit just to be sure.
No picture
OK, the set is on if get the menu display and you have sound--either a video circuit problem or a glitch.Do you get picture via the rear audio and video input jacks? this will rule some things out. Also if not tried disconnect set, any box used, or a receiver from power for several minutes and power back (possible glitch).
The screen looks a little like 3D. Every thing is
Some things are required here:1. confirm actual model number2. What has happened here is the set uses to convergence chips (IC'S) and I will attach photos of what they look like.3. They are black and 2 1/2 inch wide and 1 1/2 inch tall with the Stk-392-110 or -150 number printed in white on the front. Usually located on metal heat sinks on right side (as you look from the back). The reason they fail is simple; the back of each is metal and when installed a white grease is applied to transfer heat to the metal----after some years the grease dries out and one or both fail.Soldering is involved here as each is soldered in and have 18 pins each.I can tell you where to get them on the internet (total parts cost should be under 25 dollars). If needed we will go live via another format so we can speed things up.With the set off you should first unplug the set and remove the back cover and locate the two chips; we want to begin by looking at resistors around and in front of the chips----any bad ones will be white or discolored in the middle and easy to find.I have repaired hundreds of these sets and anyone with some patience and a little skill can do it too.You will find I will follow through and help you after we begin.Give me some idea of your skill level and we can go from there. I do have Yahoo IM if needed.SD TECH Steve chips look like this but will have a different number on them.
Convergence not working on my Hitachi 53SBX59B
The board is no longer available. It is much less to just replace the two chips and any resistors bad--give me a email or reply here and I will tell you what is involved.
Total parts cost will be under 30 dollars---usually much less.
I have fixed hundreds of these sets and own two older than yours.
