On the screen there is a green shadow on one side
Hi,
This tv has two big black ICs as convergence output on deflection circuit board that are defective and causing problem in tv, IC number is STK392-110
replace both ICs to solve tv problem, also chekc for faded color big resistor nearby these ICs or those got burn mark, replace these resistors with same value, aslo check cold/ dry solder joints in deflection circuit board and resolder these joint/ connections.
Thanks.

The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead. The tv colors lines R,G,B mis alignment, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike. The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too. These parts on the tv convergence board, must be replaced to solved the tv picture convergence problems. The shop, will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
Do I need a converter box for thus tv?
You do if you are trying to get tv off of an antenna. If you have cable or satellite tv, your service provider will then have some sort of box to receive the tv channels. Let me know if you need anything else.

The red bulb is way off. Already tried to use
The problem with your set is very common and is known as a convergence fialure. What needs to be done is the convergence amplifiers have to be replaced and any resistors or fuses that went bad. To do this repair you will need testing and soldering/desoldering equipment. If you call a repairman they should charge around125-250 us dollars to do this repair. This set is too big to move so the housecall is probably extra. If you have the set repaired it can easily last another 10 years. Hitachi big screens are amoung the most durable and problem free of all sets ever built. Good luck, Russmann.
Screen that covers speakers has a stain on it.
you local service center can usually get you a part, as long as its available. you can try to pop off the grille and clean with water, maybe take outside and blast it with a hose, not a perfect fix but might improve your situation.
Hitachi 65twx20B, the screen looks warped.
maybe a tube board defective, not the tube, the older models has better electronics quality circuit than the new ones, but you can send to repair and ask for how many will cust to be repaired, and the same time seek price for new one, and send to repair is less than 50% of new one.
My TV powers on but I get no picture and no sound
This model was first made around 2002. Does the power light on the front come on and stay on?
If it does--these sets had a problem with three relays on the power board--with the set unplugged remove the back cover and follow the power cord to the power supply board----the relays are on that board--sometimes one or more will stick open and not function---they are about 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch tall and black in color (they will have printing on top of them showing voltage and type)
What I have done in this situation is with the back off use a plastic handle from a screwdriver and tap on all of them---if the set then comes on and works one of them is intermittent--- they are pretty cheap parts and the best way is if you tap and the set works remove the board and replace all of them (four leads connect each to the circuit board).
I hope this helps you and if you have questions reply to this post here and I will assist you.

Red and blurry picture on tv
OK, the first of these sets was made in 2002 and it uses two convergence IC chips---some use a STK-392-110 AND A STK-392-150-----THE 150 is a higher current (more heavy duty version of the 110) I would replace both with STK-392-150's---YOU can buy both chips on Ebay for about 14 dollars plus shipping---sometimes there will be a bad resistor near one of the chips (taken out by a bad IC)
The reason these chips fail (they are black and about 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall) is that a white grease to transfer heat from them to the metal heat sinks they are bolted to---dries out from the heat and after 5-8 years one chip reaches a point where it cannot move the heat fast enough and it goes!
You can locate the chips inside the set---they will have the STK numbers printed on them in white---I do not know if you have the skill to do this repair yourself---if you do you can save some real money----
If you do not have the skills to do this find someone in your area who has done this before--most shops will TRY to charge 300-400 for this kind of repair---I do it here for 200-250 and do hundreds of them each year---I did 2 Hitachi's yesterday in peoples homes.
If a shop says: "it has to go to the shop" keep looking---any good tech can do this repair right in your home--MAKE SURE WHOEVER YOU GET TO DO THE REPAIR CHANGES BOTH CHIPS! If only one is replaced the other will fail and you will have the same problem again. This kind of repair usually takes about a hour to do---once the chips and any bad resistors are replaced the set is adjusted in a tech menu----SET SHOULD BE GOOD AND NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN FOR 5 to 8 years!
Now is the slow time of year for TV shops--shop around--200-250 is a good investment and you could not replace a set like this for that kind of money
If you have any questions or need more help reply to this post.
I do this here for free so if this has helped you take a minute and give me a vote here.
