Tv keeps turning on an off on its own

This is a shot in the dark... but maybe your remote on/off button is stuck. remote broke/batteries low. Any new wireless devices in the room? If none of the above I would guess that the power button or the remote signal reciever on the TV itself is shorting out. I hope this helps.

My tv wont stop scanning channels

May I make a suggestion? The first thing I would do in this case is remove front speaker grill under the screen (it should just pull out) and unplug front keyboard with the controls.

This will tell you if the problem is a bad button/switch on the set. Is set scanning up or down?

If you disconnect the front keyboard and set works, the problem is a bad switch.

let me know if you need instructions or further help.

I am in California and will be here for a while.

parvix6,

You have bad convergence ICs. They work with the digital convergence box to correct errors in the scan of the beams. They work pretty hard and dry out the silicone heat sink compound over time. This allows the ICs to overheat and fail. The replacement procedure isn't that difficult but you will need good soldering/desoldering skills. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the repair process and where to get the parts at the best price.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

My son hit the quick

dustinis,

While it may be true that your son hit the button on the quick focus, I doubt that he caused the problem. Why was he hitting it in the first place? Probably because the unit was not in focus, I would bet. The better answer would be that you have a problem with the focus on you unit.

It is the convergence circuit which needs reapaired, you need to replace the convergence ICs and your son did not cause the problem. To solve this problem go to my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which will walk you through the precedure of changing the ICs as well as where to get the parts at the best prices.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the excellent rating. Great ratings will keep the experts solving problems.

Top of screen disappeared...cant see

The Height adjustment is off... look in the back of the TV set, it has some knobs in the back, one should be vert.lin for Vertical Linearity adjustment, and there is another call Vert.Hgt. for Vertical Height adjustment. try adjusting the Vertical Height first with someone watching in the front of the big TV to see if the top comes back into view, you might have to adjust the knob very slowly one way then the other way, to make this adjustment. If it doesnot adjust take it to a TV shop to get it repaired.
Good Luck.

If you are using a B - Y, Component or S video inputs then you may just have a bad connection on the connection cables. Unplug each lead in turn and replace them.
If that doesn't clear the fault then you probably have a bad contact or component within the video processing or video output stage. Check around components that are fairly heavy, like coils, transformers and transistors/Ic's on heat sinks for dry joints.

PICTURE LOOKS LIKE 3D

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.

There no picture on are the bulbs bad

Hello,

Yes the bulb is bad that is why you do not have pictures.

Some other factors that could cause a no picture problem are bad capacitor and faulty t-com board.

So if you check your lamp and do not find any damaged or faulty, then you check for the t-com board and the capacitors on your main board.

Take care and good luck.

No picture

Hello,

If you are having sound but no picture, then there is most likely a problem with either the lamp of the television, the t-com board or there is a bad capacitor on the main panel of the television.

First check the lamp by unscrewing the television, some of these televisions have their lamp right under the television, by the control panel. So have it assessed to see if it is worn out or damaged, either ways, it needs replacement, but if it is intact, then you need to go further by checking the t-com board, this is located at the back of the television, under the main panel, have it checked also to see if it needs replacement.

If after checking them both and the problem does not seem to be from the lamp or t-com board, then you need to assess the main panel of the television for any bad capacitor, if there is any, then you need to replace it with a new one.

These are most likely causes of you not having picture with their solutions.

Make sure you unplug the television for about an hour or two, to dissipate the high voltage in the unit, also be very careful in order not to damage any other part in the unit. If you are not familiar with such activities, i will strongly advice you seek professional assistance from a repairman.

Take care and good luck
