In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

If your TV is in the range of 3 years or more for its age, it would be more feasible to change the set rather than spend a lot of money on it. There are many parts more than can fail due to age of usage.

COULD BE THE BULB. IS THERE A RED FLASHING LIGHT? MAYBE THE POWER BOARD. CONTACT A HONEST TV TECH. THIS IS A QUALITY TELEVISION.

The lamp or even the ballast that powers it can look perfect and be bad.

Experts are free to chose which questions they answer, for example if this set has a red oval area in the middle of the screen it is a bad optical light engine.

Its real easy on this model when you replace the lamp for the pins on it not to line up perfectly when installed.

Look on right side for the door to remove and lamp should be behind that.

Likely a bad solder connection exists and was advanced when set go moved---you might with set not plugged in want to remove cover and with flashlight have a real good look to see if any plugs loose or off.

If set is Hitachi 60V500 and speakers are turned on, speakers are good and still no sound from internal speakers you have a audio circuit problem==this model is part of a class action lawsuit for another issue....

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

This kind of symptoms is an indication of faulty light engine. This is very common issues on this model. You're lucky that you've experienced it after 9 years. This is an expensive parts, in fact a refurbished one cost $400 dollar. Refurbished 60V500A light engine.
Its up to you now to decide whether to get it fix or buy a new TV.

He was referring to the Optical light engine.

This model and the 50V500 are both prone to this problem and there are in fact several class action law suits pending; I replaced of course a lot of the light engines when the sets were newer.

Last time I looked the part was about four hundred dollars exchange not to mention rather serious labor (like replacing a motor in a car).

Your TV is at protection mode. It mean there's problem on it. The indicator provide your information that he detected short circuit or fault circuit. Your power supply and the regulator are working normal. Since you have problem on the other circuit Like Horizontal out the one producing high voltage. Or in the Vertical section This the IC type can have problem on it too. If you know this section you can now assume where will you begin troubleshooting. Occasional problem in the H- out transistor had a defect probably shorted or open or leak. While in Vertical Your problem will one horizontal line if the IC short circuit a call for protection circuit. And Also The Convergence circuit will make power interruption also. If you know this section then you can do it.

I would find a universal remote and program it or order a replacement remote or check eBay for a remote that is identical to the one you have now, just sounds like your remote is bad.

Depending on how long you've had your T.V, these problems are usually lamp related.

Open the lamp door and inspect the lamp in the housing to see if it looks bad.

This is called a fireball, the light engine needs replacing, too costly.

You have a bad light engine (optical block). This is the most expensive part of the TV. Do a search with the model number on Google or Ebay and even type the words "light engine" in your search. You can then find the price of the part. You can find a service manual by typing in the model number followed by "service manual". This will show disassembly instructions.
