Just cut the 2 wires to the switch and cut he insulation back and twist them together with a wire nut......use a switchable power bar to turn it on and off......I did this to a Realistic amplifier and it works fine...........

i don;t know. please put it back, hooked up the same way to see if the tv is the problem. if tv is ok, it seems the cable or connectors may be loose or connected wrong. if single cable, dollar stores sometimes have new long tv cables you could run from original supply to new position to help you locate problem wire or connector.
