The adf no longer works, it starts to run the paper through and then it gets stuck and prints out a blank paper

Clean the ADF paper feed and separation rollers,and verify the paper jam way and the mechanical paper transmision components.

The book says that there is a problem with the laser Beam Detect signal. You may have to replace the laser unit ( I would remove and check that everything in the laser is free of dirt/dust. ), the DC controller PCB and check the wiring. Do you here the whirring noise of the laser?
