It does sound like a sensor, but it will probably require a lot of disassembling to get to it.I took a quick look at my scanner/printer and it looks like there are a couple of possibilities to how it would work.Either an electric eye sensor or a simple one such as a plastic tab that gets pushed down when the paper hits it,similar to a refrigerator light. With the plastic tab system, which is commonly used on copiers,it would most likely push the tab into an electrical switch to start it and maybe the switch is bad. This could be quick to get to the parts involved.Where are you located?I may be able to guide you by phone. If we do it with messages here,it could take weeks.lol.Also,if you do attempt to self-repair,take some notes when you remove things and lay them out so it is easy to remember the order they go back in,maybe even a couple photos.I have fixed many things over the years and just have my own system, but I see many issues here where people ask what goes where after they took it apart already. If it does end up being an electronic switch, you will need a crash course in soldering. It is not difficult, the equipment is relatively inexpensive, perhaps $15,and I can easily explain how to do it.It may not come to that as it depends on what you find.A complete circuit board would be very expensive.Someone may know someone who can solder too.Good luck,Greg
What causes a white streak and faded print to
Most often on the PC940 this means your toner cartridge is getting low on toner. To prove this is the cause, just remove the toner cartridge and while keeping it relatively level, shake it side to side a few times. This will re-distribute the remaining toner in the cartridge. Re-install and make a copy. The black streak/faded copy should be much better. If so then I would go ahead and get a new cartridge on the way.

I have a Canon PC
Unfortunately no. The sudden interruption has caused a corruption of the firmware and the only way to fix that is by reinstalling it. Because the copier is unresponsive the only way left to reinstall the firmware is a low-lever eprom flashing - the chip with the firmware is reflashed directly, bypassing the onboard processor with a special tool that only a dealer has.
You will have to take it to one.
I want a service manual for my canon pc940 copier
Just installed a new cartridge. Made one copy. worked great.
Went to make a copy today. All Black. Thought about it. Tried again and noticed lamp was not lighting. Before you say DUH! is the lamp out or is their extenuating circumstances preventing the lamp from lighting during a copy. The table top moves and everything else seems to work accordingly.
E007 error
The error code means that the fuser film is damaged and will need to be replaced.
The copier has a white
Open up the machine and remove the toner cartridge. Keeping the cartridge somewhat level, simply shake it from side to side to re-distribute the toner inside the cartridge. Re-install the cartridge and test. Keep in mind if this solves the issue then your toner cartridge may be getting low on toner.
This will resolve this issue 90% or more of the time.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.
Installed new cartidge - white
Make sure you pulled the seal tape out of the cartridge when you installed it. Remove the toner cartridge and while holding it relatively level shake it from side to side. Re-install the cartridge and test. If it makes a good copy now you are all set. If not then I would return the cartridge and get a replacement under warranty.
I see this all the time with new cartridges. Most of the time it is caused by the toner in the chamber being packed to one side or the other and shaking it from side to side wil even out the toner.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

You can try to stop the process mid-print. That way if the paper is un-wrinkled before it hits the fuser, then it must be the fuser causing your problem.
The PN for the fuser is FG6-3720-000 and sells new for about $175

does the printer keep the error even after turning it off then back on? If so, make sure it is on then unplug it from the back and do a hard reset, that should clear the error and reset the printer without actually resetting your calibrations for it.
