Whats region 1 dvd?
dvds are coded differently depending on which region of the world they are intended for. there are eight regions - check this link for more info;
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=502554
this was a pointless idea that was supposed to limit video piracy, but only actually causes problems and increased production costs
The US is in region 1, so the problem is the settings on your dvd/vcr as to what region it is coding the discs as. You may be able to change this in one of the menus, but it may be designed for only one region code output. Check the manual - if you need a manual or have trouble then please post the make and model of your dvd vcr recorder and we can try to help
Hope this helps you :)
Can it be converted to a.c
<P>Not likely,but if you want to attempt it,you would need to find a power 'inverter'with just the right specifications.If you have the manual for it still,the specs may be in there but when in doubt,call Insignia.I checked it out and there didn't appear to be a way to do it,but here is the link because you never know.</P><P><A href="http://insigniaproducts.com/support.html">http://insigniaproducts.com/support.html</A></P><P>Good luck! My dvd player is plugged in, but it won't even
You should contact the company that made your dvd player and tell them your problem. they will probably send someone over. IF you have a receipt they may either fix your DVD player or give you another one.

Did you use the correct adapter for use in the car? It sounds to me like it may have been getting too much voltage/current.
If you had it over a year, I doubt the warranty will cover it unfortunately.

Two possibilities: 1)The pickup or 2)the LCD Screen and its counterparts. By your description, I can't tell for sure. Is it like someone is turning the screen on and off, or does the sound actually get misaligned with the picture?
In your case, it probably wouldn't be worth the repair for either as parts for this particular unit cost 80$(US) and up. If it's the screen itself, you're looking at a 200-400$(US) repair.
OPEN error stays on when disc inserted
There is a pressure switch that gets pushed down when the disc door is closed. Ether the arm on the switch is busted, the switch is bad or a busted wire to the switch.
