Loewe Aconda ACO9303 30" TV Questions & Answers

I repaired a lot of these sets when they were new and under warranty.
The most likely reason for 'shutdown" which is what you are describing, is one of two parts.
The "Flyback" or High voltage transformer in these sets fails; usually with back off when you try to turn set on you see a little arc at top of high voltage transformer---means it is bad-----so common I have literally replaced dozens of them.
The second common (not as common as the transformer) reason is there are a number of special capacitors right around the same area as the transformer; they do not short or burn---they open like the filament in a old style light bulb----a little tricky to find but not expensive.
The Flyback transformer is black with a large red wire coming out of the top that goes into the picture tube; part may be found on internet for approx 50 dollars or Loewe parts center for 75 plus.
Everything about these sets was expensive; I still have 3 brand new remotes for them--wholesale on them about 85 dollars.

I'm not sure if my problem is exactly the same? I
I know a lot about these sets---I did warranty work on them when they
were new and later---Set was designed in Germany and the company based
in England---for a while the parts were very hard to get---but the last
time I fixed one there was a Parts center here in the USA.
Set
is basically modular in design--meaning if the problem cannot be traced
down and found you can buy from the USA SOURCE a replacement board.
Answer a few questions and I will try to help you.
1.) Before the set failed did the picture fill the entire screen from right to left and top to bottom?
2.) When it shuts off does the power light stay green or go to red? (standby).
3.) Does the set make any unusual sound or have a burning smell?
THERE IS ONE VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS SET--THERE ARE ABOUT 8 CERAMIC CAPS ON THE "MAIN" board----One of them opens (does not short!)
This cap is almost in the middle of a group of brown caps (the larger ones never fail--it is fairly small) I think I still have some new ones here--if you need I can look for them and tell you what markings id the cap you are looking for.
Someone has to unsolder each cap from the board and check them with a cap meter---if they find one open---this is the problem.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Hope this helps

Hello
Your TVs video output transistor [Red] has got shorted. Usually a transistors are used in most of the colour telivisions in video output stage.. If it is a transistorised video output stage, replacing red output transistor will solve the problem. In some modern sets there are so many types of Integrated Circuts [ICs] are used. If your TV uses Ic as video output, replace the Ic.
Set went off while watching and now red and green light alternate
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be a horizontal/vertical circuit issue. You’ll need to open the back of the unit and check/test HOT (horizontal output transformer) and flyback, replace the part that has gone bad. This is only recommended if you have electrical expertise. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee
