Take the rear bolt cover off ( 2 screws) . Reach inside with your finger and try spinning the spring. For some reason the spring will eventually move to a position that when compacted will bind with the bolt pass through hole.

is It electric? if it is then you should look for some corrosion on the motherboard.

Is there a Nerf round stuck in the mechanism

1. Get a ruler 2. Push the ruler down the barrel so the end is near the bottom of the disc 3. Jiggle the ruler from left to right 4. Shoot the gun/Press the disc eject switch

unscrew the entier gun... all nerf guns are screwed together. you can practically cut the gun in half by unscrewing it. just make sure to put everything back how you found it. good luck to you.

I had the same problem with two guns out of the box. Turned out that the dividers in the battery tray kept the batteries from touching each other on some brands of batteries. Remove the dividers and should work. You can verify this by measuring the voltage on the two terminals of the battery pack.
