I don't know how to turn off the automatic light

There is a button with an atomic time symbol below the face of the watch. Press and hold this button until you hear a beep and the light will go off. To turn it back on again, just press and hold that same button until you hear a beep and it will come back in automatically when you tilt your watch.

Casio gw-500, trying to change

For G Shock GW500Uthe screws holding the ******** are actually just one pin per strap the screw end is for decoration. To remove just get small headed flat screwdriver and push pin through it is fidely but can be done it took me 10 mins first time. Casio sell straps direct for about 10 pound cheaper than putting into casio dealer .

Flashing charge

I couldn't find your model on thier web site but this range appears to have solar panels to charge the battery. Place your watch in bright sunlight or under a lamp (not a hot one) to charge the battery. If this fails, consult your nearst dealer.
