My LG Dehumidfier 3850A20500H has

There are several things that can cause the problem you described. Most of which are easily remedied.

1. The humidity/moisture extraction level is set to high. Lower it to 35%

2, Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Remove and clean the filter.

3. Refrigerant coils on the back of the unit are dirty and need to be cleaned.

4. Not enough clear air space around the unit. Maintain at least a minimum of 12" of clear air space all around the unit.

5. Unit is operating in a room that has an ambient air temperature at floor level, of between 40 -60 degrees F. Most dehumidifiers don't work well between those temperatures. Raise the unit up off the floor on to something sturdy enough for the weight of the dehumidifier when the bucket is full.

The above are the top 5 things that can cause a dehumidifier not to work properly. Fortunately, none of the solutions require any major repair to the unit.

Hope this helped you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifier keeps turning off

The most common problem is that the humidity extraction level is set to high. Set it to it's lowest setting. If you have an LED screen on your unit, the lowest setting will probably be 35%. Or in the case of no LED screen, Minimal will be the setting you want to use.

Since you're using a drain hose, I assume the unit is in the basement. If that's the case, the ambient air temperature at floor level, may be to cold for the unit to operate properly. Most dehumidifiers struggle at air temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees F. Try placing the unit up off the floor on something sturdy that can handle the weight (including a full tank of water) and the vibration during operation.

Hope this helped you trouble shoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Try resetting the bucket, making sure that it is set properly and triggers the safety lever/switch. If that doesn't solve the problem. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF, unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 12-15 minutes. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. If the bucket is installed properly, the unit should revert back to the original factory settings.

Hope this helps solve the problem.

HI I have an LG-LD450EAL

Check the bucket first, it might be full of water and the unit refuses to start because otherwise the water would spill.
If after emptying the bucket you get the same CH 10 message then the sensor assembly, Part # 6877A30013M, has failed and you will need to change it - here it is
http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?6877A30013M
Easy to change, just take out the rear covers and the new part plugs into the control board - the old one is secured with a small plastic clip , crimp it to disengage it.

Jenifay, take good care of your dehumidifier and do all the routine maintenance that is recommended in the Owners Manual. As this model has been discontinued.

The following link will take you to LG's Knowledge Base. On the right of the page, you will see Dehumidifier Manual English. Click on that, and you can download and print the manual for a 45 pint LHD4SEL Dehumidifier.

Since I was able to get you a free manual, would you be kind enough to rate my response to you?
Thanks.

Dehumidifier comes on for an

If the switch by passed but still the problem is same, that means the problem is with the control board. Its not detecting the bucket.--------- Reconnect the switch as it was and then try this:------ Look inside where the bucket goes in at the top right hand side is the bucket switch. Hold it in and start the unit. If it runs the arm on, the switch must be bent SLIGHTLY until it makes contact with the button and the lite goes out with the bucket in.------- Also check the float in the bucket. If the float in bucket is stuck then it will always detect water as full. and red light will flash. The float moves and actuates the switch. But if float is not moving the switch will not actuate and dehumidifier will not get command that water is empty. But if float is not stuck and its moving freely then its the switch. The switch to which the float actuates. That switch is got faulty. The switch can be manually depressed and checked. If still the red light flashing then switch is confirm faulty.----------- Also check if fan is running or not. Also do you hear any humming. As you mentioned it starts then shuts of, this clears that fan runs. But still re check and confirm it.------------ If the fan hums but does not turn, or turns slowly, the motor needs to be replaced. If the fan won't move, you may have a bad switch . ----------But in your case, you mentioned that fan runs for 2 seconds then shuts down, this indicates that fan switch is not short, its the fan controlling motor, that is got weak and it needs to be replaced. Also check the fan motor connection to main board. If there is a short is wires between fan motor and main board, then this will overheat the motor,as soon as you turn on the dehumidifier ,in that case,if there is short wire the new external wire has to be connected, but if wires look fine then its motor ,that is to be replaced. To replace a bad fan motor, unplug the machine and disconnect the fan wires from the switch panel. You may have to pry apart a plug, use needle-nose pliers to pull the connectors off the switch, or unscrew the connectors.Remove the old motor from its housing, using a Phillips screwdriver or a nut driver and socket.Remove the fan blade from the motor.and in the same way re fit the new replacement motor and connect its connections as it were connected before.---------
If the temperature in the room is lower than the setting on the dehumidifier, the unit will not run a cycle. The unit has a setting of no lower than 65°F. If you have the home thermostat set lower, the unit will not run a humidity control cycle. Set the thermostat higher on the home air unit that supplies the air conditioning. Set the dehumidifier to a lower setting if you are running the air conditioners during the warmer seasons.---------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The dehumidifier will not run.

Generally, the buckets on these units can be a little finicky. Especially, if the bucket is not installed properly. In other words, if the bucket doesn't trip the safety switch, when it's out in place and the "bucket full" indicator will remain on and the unit will not run. I suspect the hose attached to the bucket may have gotten the bucket slightly out of place and it's not triggering the safety switch. Turn the unit off, and reinstall the bucket,. Then turn the unit back ON. Make sure there is a little slack in the hose from the unit to the where ever you're draining the water to. In other words, the hose should not be pulling on the bucket.

As I said, they can be a little finicky, so be patient reinstalling the bucket. As it may take several tries, before you get it right.

Hope this helps solve the problem.

My new LG "ld450eal" DeHumidifier

The switch that says 'Bucket is full' is not adjusted properly.
It will need to be adjusted, normally a screw driver or pliers,
so that when its empty the switch is not made or the contacts
are open.
If it is in adjustment properly, then the switch is bad and needs
replacing.
Before you replace it, check to make sure the wires leading to it
are not touching, it may be sending a signal meaning 'full' by
electricaly touching each other at the switch.

You can try running the hose in a bucket or pan. The hose must be lower then the unit to properly drain. Make sure the filter is good as well so it can absorb the moisture.
The dehumidifier removes moisture from the air by passing the moist air over a cold dehumidifer coil. The moisture condenses out of the air on this coil and goes to the drain. You may have a bad coil
