Setup Menu Unavailable for JVC HR-XVC30U
There were several screens that were unavailable and there seemed to be no obvious solution so I treated it like a PC and rebooted the unit. In terms of this unit, it meant unplugging the unit for an hour and then plugging it back in. All functionality is now available once again.
Timer programming
The remote control is key to timer recording. Notice the selections are color-coded: grey-black for VCR, gold for DVD. Then look at the second and third rows of buttons. Each button has multiple functions depending on if the VCR or DVD button has been pressed. To record from TV signal to VHS, press the VCR very top button. (The controller will also control your TV if set up properly, so be sure the small switch at the top-left of the controller is set to the VCR/DVD side. I use a separate controller for my TV so I never change this.) Now press the "PROG." button located beside the "3" button. (Your television must be on and set to "see" the VCR not the normal TV signal.) Now look at the second row of buttons, the ones with the "+" signs. The grey words below them indicate what they'll do when pressed (the same buttons do what the gold words say when the DVD is selected.) So to set the start time, press the first "+" button with the word "START" below it. That sets the start time of the show you want to record. It'll go in 30-minute intervals if you hold it down, otherwise it's a minute-at-a-press. If you go too far, you can back up with the third row's "-" button. When you have the start time set, move on to the next button labeled "STOP" and similarly set the end-time of the program. Continue with the third "+" button to set the date you want to record. Lastly, set the channel by pressing the fourth "+" button labeled "CH." It's a bit tedious if you have a high channel number to get to. When you have all these set properly, it's important to then press the "TIMER" button (located next to the keypad number 6). That turns the VCR off but "watching" for the settings you've just made, and it'll wake up and do the recording at the proper moment. You can confirm you've got it waiting by looking at the display on the VCR; to the left of the channel number a red "clock" image should be lit. That says it's waiting. You can program several shows to record by repeating these steps, or you can do them all sequentially by setting the first one, then pressing the "PROG" button again (rather than the "TIMER" button) and setting up the next recording. When you're done, THEN press the "TIMER" button and the VCR will go to sleep until it's assigned wake-up time.

My JVC TV has an onscreen remote that doesn't let us use the actual remote what do I do to gat it out?
Hello! If your JVC TV is displaying an onscreen remote and you're unable to use the actual remote, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Power cycle the TV: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often reset any temporary issues and restore the functionality of the actual remote.
- Replace the remote batteries: Check the batteries in your remote control and make sure they have enough power. If the batteries are low, replace them with fresh ones and try using the remote again.
- Check the remote control sensor: Ensure that there are no obstructions between the remote control and the TV's remote control sensor. Clean the remote control sensor on the TV with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris that may be interfering with the signal reception.
- Reset the TV to factory settings: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the TV to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any personalized settings and restore the TV to its original configuration. Refer to the user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific JVC TV model.
- Contact JVC customer support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to JVC customer support for further assistance. They will have access to more specific troubleshooting steps and can guide you through the process of resolving the issue with the onscreen remote.
Keep in mind that the exact steps and options may vary depending on your specific JVC TV model. Refer to the user manual or contact JVC customer support for model-specific guidance.
JVC SR-DVM700U the front display is dimming quit low to where i cant read it
If the front display of your JVC SR-DVM700U is dimming to the point where it is difficult to read, there are a few potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Adjust the display brightness: Check if your device has a dedicated display brightness control. It could be a physical knob or a setting in the menu system. Increase the brightness setting to make the display more visible. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions on how to adjust the display brightness.
2. Check the power source: Ensure that the device is connected to a stable power source. If the power supply is fluctuating or inadequate, it can cause the display to dim. Try plugging the device into a different power outlet or using a different power cable to rule out any power-related issues.
3. Clean the display: Dust, dirt, or fingerprints on the display surface can also affect visibility. Gently clean the front display using a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the display.
4. Check for backlight issues: The display might have a backlight that illuminates it. If the backlight is malfunctioning or failing, it can result in dimness. Unfortunately, in most cases, repairing or replacing the backlight requires professional assistance. Consider contacting a qualified technician or JVC customer support for further guidance and potential repairs.
5. Reset the device: Perform a factory reset on your JVC SR-DVM700U. This can help resolve any software-related issues that may be affecting the display. Consult the user manual or contact JVC customer support for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific model.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to JVC customer support or consult a professional technician who specializes in JVC audio/video equipment. They can provide further troubleshooting guidance or recommend appropriate repairs if necessary.
I have a jvc 40in model LT 40A 32C.THERE IS NO SOUND FROM SPEAKER OR EXTERNAL SPEAKER PORTS.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the sound issue on your JVC TV:
- Check the volume level: Make sure that the TV volume is not muted and the volume level is high enough to be audible.
- Check the connections: Ensure that the audio cables are properly connected to the TV and the external speakers. If you're using an external audio device, check its connections as well.
- Try resetting the TV: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check the audio settings: Access the TV's audio settings menu and ensure that the sound mode is set to "Stereo" or "Mono". You can also try changing the audio output settings to "TV Speakers" or "External Speakers" depending on what you're using.
- Try using a different audio device: If the above steps don't work, try connecting a different audio device to the TV to see if the sound works. This will help you determine if the problem is with the TV or the audio device.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that there may be an issue with the TV's audio hardware, and you may need to contact a professional repair service or the manufacturer for further assistance.
When I try to turn on my jvc projection tv the red light by the power button blinks 2 times and tv won't turn on?
The blinking red light on your JVC projection TV could indicate a problem with the TV's power supply, lamp, or other internal component. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
- Check the power cord: Make sure the power cord is plugged in securely to the TV and the power outlet. If the cord is loose or damaged, the TV may not receive the power it needs to turn on.
- Reset the TV: Unplug the TV from the power outlet and wait a few minutes before plugging it back in. This may reset the TV's internal system and resolve the issue.
- Replace the lamp: If the TV has been used for a long time, the lamp may be burnt out and need to be replaced. Check the owner's manual or contact JVC customer support for instructions on how to replace the lamp.
- Contact customer support: If none of the above steps work, the TV may have a more serious problem that requires professional repair. Contact JVC customer support for assistance or to find an authorized repair center in your area.
