use the x ^1/y key. It's the shift of x^y key. So the 3rd root of 8 is found by entering 8 then shift then x^y then 3 then =

Why? If number is decimal the dot is needed. If the result is an integer, just ignore the dot.

after typing in your fraction tap the '=' key then tap the 'a b/c' key again and it will show it in decimal

Did you enter a negative number using the "+/-" key and not an expression using the "-" key?
