As a first time user, the only way to start is to read (at least skim) through the user's guide. If you have no time for that and you need assistance with a particular question take the time to formulate it in an understandable manner. It would have been my pleasure to help you, if only I understood what you wanted. Please try again.

You can set your display mode to FIX or NORMAL ( 1 or 2) if you have them. However if the result is too small ( less then 0.001) or too large the calculator will use the scientific format. Generally if there are not enough display positions to show your result, the calculator uses scientific notation.

if you want 10% of 100 multiply 100 X .10
20% of 100 multiply 100 X .20
25% of 100 multiply 100 X .25
so you get a price markup of 20% for a 100$ product 100 X.20 = 20 then add the original 100 + the 20 you got from your multiplication and you have $120.00

Hello,
I need to calculate
In the bottom row of keys, there is a key marked [EXP]. It is lodged between the [.] decimal mark key and the [=] key. You use the [EXP] key to enter exponents of powers of 10.
To enter Avogadro's Number
6 [.]022 [EXP] 23 [=]
Be careful: You do not key in the base 10, as the [EXP] key already takes care of that.
When you are in "comp"
The "Deg" indicates degrees are the unit used for trigonometric calculations. You can use [MODE] [5] to switch to radians or [MODE] [6] for grade. [MODE] [4] switches back to degrees. This is independent of "Comp" mode.
How to solve tan(52)=X / 18?
There is nothing special about the equation. tan(52) is just another number.
Isolate the unknown to get
X=18*tan(52)
I assume that the angle value is in degrees. To set it, press MODE 0 to use the usual computational mode, then set angle unit to degrees by pressing MODE 4.
Once this is done, type in
52 TAN * 18 =
