Flashing green power light

If the model indicated here is right It could be in the power supply and this model sometimes fails where light just blinks--that could be also convergence issue--in this model there is a way to disconnect the power going to the convergence board to see if set will then turn on.

Thats a convergence issue which is common for all rear projection models. The AV48WP74 - AV65WP74 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com will usually solve convergence issues. The kit contains both ICs and the associated resistors and the CD with repair instructions.

I have a JVC AV-65WP74,

The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. This is a protective reaction to a problem in the power supply itself or an overload due to a failure downstream from the supply. This is not a likely DIY repair. You will probably need a technician to determine which of these two likely problems it is.

I6t has red lines on

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

I have a JVC I'Art

See attached photo of what convergence board in your set looks like and the chips that fail; it is directly behind front panel beneath the screen--access from the front.

I can tell you exactly how to get at it and what is involved in the repair---TOTAL PARTS COST ON EBAY will be under 25 dollars.

If you want assistance and this information and the photos helped you rate this solution as very helpful.

I have done dozens of these sets with the same problem.

My screen is 3d looking alot of red

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung2_bing.gif, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith2_bing.gif, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D2_bing.gif
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash2_bing.gif focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

93a1209.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

My tv arc down from top and botton thhe blue color

The problem is in the convergence circuit. If you have soldering skills you could possibly replace the convergence ICs, if not you would need to take it to a shop. If you have never had the back off a set before this would not be a good repair for you to start with.

My digital in keeps saying no signal. Using direct

has the rear cover been removed with the power cord still plugged in? If so the digital circuits will be detroyed so you wont be able to receive any HD inputs. JVC has a safety fetaure where the HD is destroyed if the back panel is removed even for a second with the power cord plugged in.
