JVC AV-48WP55 won't pwer up.

Start at the wall plug. Did a breaker trip for that outlet? Next use a multimeter to check voltage at the power input to the TV where the power cord connects to the mainboard. Be sure you are checking AC voltage. Next check DC voltage at the power switch on the inbound side of the switch. The power switch is usually after the transformer and AC to DC circuit. If you are getting power to all three places, check the other side of the on/off button. This will eliminate most of the power-related circuit. Also, look for blown capacitors, or burned areas around the power circuit.

I have a panasonic tv it is a 2004 model pv-dm2794

@Goonnowthenn "wont light up... ..what have I zapped.." Hi G... As long as you didn't leave stray cables dangling around from the removed DVD, there should not be any short circuits. If you did, something may have touched where it shouldn't and shut down or blown the electronics. Another cause could be the self-protection firmware detects a fault, due to wrong amperage or an 'open circuit' condition. ie: The missing DVD module or part could be confusing the TV.

Vertical lines all over screen

Easy answer, most of the time verticl lines are due to dirty lenses and bulbs inside of the tv, This can be resolved 1 of two ways: either you can open the back of the tv and clean both the lenses and bulbs with a special lens cleaner or you can pay a tv repair man to do it they usually charge anywhere from $60.00- $150.00.

Horizontal lines flicker on jvc av-48wp30

Next time you see it select convergence in the menu, there is a way to adjust or at least see if it is out. This is actually not a real hard set for this repair IF it is your problem. The board that needs to be removed to get at the parts is not large and does not require a lot of time to get out.The set uses two of the STK-392-110 chips for this---at for example Suburban Electronics you can get a pair with shipping for under 20 dollars. In the customer convergence mode what you are looking for is red lines where they do not belong and if red looking to see red will move left/right and up down in a area that looks off.If the red for example will not move in some direction change both chips. If you want help I will attach some photos here of exactly what the board in this model looks like and the chips are easy to see.Confirm first this is your problem.I can tell you exactly how to get the board out and what you will need for the repair. There are "kits" for this but they run over 80 dollars and have a number of parts you will never need or use.If you have a soldering iron and know how to solder the repair should cost you in parts etc under 30 dollars.Take it from me, I have done a few hundred of this model for this problem. Pretty good investment for a set with few other problems, life on the replacement parts is 5-7 years.Let me know if want more information or help.SD TECH 12_13_2012_4_07_35_am.jpg12_13_2012_4_08_15_am.jpg

My AB-48P776 has a cracked screen

I will presume it is a AV and not a AB model. Screen may or may not be available from JVC but if it is will be expensive.Google the model with 'replacement screen" as several sellers have replacements----outer should be clear protective screen and the unit will have 2 more behind it.another option might be EBAY where junked sets are offered for parts---get the entire front frame with all screens?

Need a flyback transformer

This part rarely fails in this set so let me know if sweep transistor is shorted or what?To answer: Contact JVC with the correct model number and try to get the part number---nothing JVC will be cheap but with the actual part number you can Google to see if available.I would also suggest checking someone like Suburban Electronics who sells a lot of these parts---online catalog and or phone.SD TECH
