This is a faulty high-voltage transformer. (same thing as power supply) It is very common in today's electronics.

Hello
The ticking is from the the power supply trying to start. (Sometimes you can here from the speakers). Something else in the set is holding down the startup process. Why did you replace the convergence chips? Did you replace with the exact version of chip? Did you refloat the chips or were they socketed? What was the original problem? If the original problem was just bad convergence then I would say that something went wrong when you replace the chips. I.E. bad chip, wrong version, bad solder connection, pin bent in socket. Retrace you steps and post again.
Hook up sony blu ray
You should be able to hook it up with a component video cable. A component video cable is a cable that has 5 color coded RCA style ends that are Green/Blue/Red/White/Red. The Green, Blue and one of the Reds is for the video and delivers the signals needed to produce the HD picture and the White and the other Red is for the audio to provide you with stereo sound.
The Video cords will plug into the section labeled component video facing up and down and the audio will plug into the side by side section. So if you plug into Component input 2 then you would plug in the audio into the audio section of input 2.
If you have a separate surround sound system you can connect one of two ways.
1. Plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the Blu Ray to an available input on the surround sound.
or
2. Plug all inputs into the TV (as noted above) and then plug a separate Audio (red/white) cable from the tv labeled "Audio Out" to an available input on the surround sound system.
Turns on then in 1 second right back off
IF THE SET SHUTS OFF CHECK TO SEE IF THE POWER LIGHT JUST BLINKS(MOST OF THESE THE LIGHT IS BLUE)
A constant blinking of the power light means usually a short-----
The most common cause for this in AV48wp30 is a short in the convergence circuit of the set.
Let me know if you have the constantly blinking power light and I can tell you an easy way to prove without replacing any parts if the convergence circuit is your problem.
If you have a convergence problem causing this I can tell you what parts are needed and where to get them and how to do the fix yourself.

JVC AV48WP34
I have a JVC AV-48WP30, and I had a lot of issues w/ red lines appearing on my screen. If your problem is like mine, then you have to find the video processor, which is a small, squarish metal box on the main board right behind where the a/v plugs are on the back, and jiggle it a little bit, maybe stick a zip tie on there. That always made my lines disappear.
Our TV has, almost what appears to be, a double
This sounds like a convergence problem.
If model number is
AV48WP30 go into the customer menu and select CONVERGENCE---if Red or
Blue will not move in some direction one or both of the two STK-392-110
CHIPS this set uses for convergence is bad.
What happens is the
convergence chips are black in color--about 2 1/2 inches wide X 1 1/2
inches tall with 18 pins each----the back of each is metal--when they
are installed(each is mounted to a metal heatsink to keep it cool) they apply a white grease to transfer heat quickly----
After some years the grease dries out and one of the chips overheats and fails.
Not a real hard repair to do if you are handy and know how to solder----
Most
shops are going to charge about 300 or more for this
repair-----considering you can buy all the parts for under 25 dollars
if you or someone you know can do it you can save a lot of money.
I can give you general instructions for this repair on this set.
I have repaired hundreds of sets with convergence troubles--very common problem.
Let me know if you have questions or need advice.

WHY IS THERE GREEN LINES THREW MY TV
If the green lines look like venetian blinds at a slant they are what are referred to as retrace lines. This is an indication that there may be a G1 to G2 short in your tube.
You can try opening the front of the set and locate the focus block and look for a large black block that has 6 knobs on it. There will be three that have a F by them, (don’t touch these) and three that have an S by them. Adjust the center Green one unlit the lines just barely disappear.
You can try this and let me know, I have some other issues that can come up, but they will require much more trouble shooting and time. I will share if you wish to repair the set, I am here to help.
I am doing this for free so please vote as best you can.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
