I have a Rockola model 429 jukebox, the carosel will not turn
1) Check all of the fuses in the power supply chassis.: 3x 3A, 1x 1A, 1x 1.6A ..(the power cord from the wall goes right to this chassis)
2) If all fuses are good, make sure that the Gripper has completed its cycle. The magazine wont run until the gripper arm is back in place and completely open.
3) There are several switches that ride on a cam at the rear of the of the mechanism.( end of shaft that moves the gripper) These switches tell it where the gripper is (in it's cycle) If they fail to report a completed cycle, it will not scan the magazine.Tapping lightly will sometimes get them working enough to let you know that you have found the problem.
4) It is possible that something is mechanically stuck, use the nub on the back of the (record carriage and gripper) motors, to see it they are free.
5) If it is still dead, you may have a power supply problem. The voltage at the motor(s) plug(s) can be checked with a volt meter, BUT this is not super reliable, because the voltage could have a lot of ripple or could drop to nothing when a load is applied. The capacitor and selenium rectifier under the power supply chassis should be changed for reliability reasons anyway.
5a) A regular 2 or 4 amp bridge rectifier (Radio Shack) will work in place of the selenium rectifier.
When installing it, just connect the 2 transformer leads to the (~AC) leads of the bridge.
The original rectifier should have a red mark or paint on it, near one of it's leads...THAT IS THE PLUS (+) hook that lead to the (+) on the new bridge. (EVEN IF IT LOOKS LOOKS IT GOES TO THE CHASSIS OR GROUND)
The remaining wire connects to the only remaining lead on the new bridge.
5b) The capacitor can be a little higher in voltage and micro farads, just be sure to observe the polarity. (+ & -)
5c) Make sure that you clean and inspect the small relay. This must open and close the contacts correctly.

6) It is possible that you have a bad motor, even it it turns freely. There are 2 brushes on these motors, and if one gets too short, the motor will not run no matter what. There may be a dead spot in the armature which would cause it to stop in mid cycle. I have seen gripper motors stop prematurely, right near the end of the cycle. If you help it a little with the nub on the back of the motor, it would then scan to the next record. Sometime this will happen due to a cam switch problem, so check this before you condemn the motor.
7) There is a metal box on the underside of the record mechanism It is near the front, behind the play counter wheel. There are relays in there that often need to be cleaned. They will keep some motors from running, but this is usually when selecting or reading out, but might be worth a look, as I do not have the schematic for this machine in front of me.
